Been watching the anime MAO (based on the manga by Rumiko Takahashi) and as someone who has done quite a bit of research into Onmyoji/Onmyodo, due to the fact the position did have to deal with yokai and yokai are a hyperfixation for me… the unease this anime gives me.
Don’t get me wrong! I really like it, it’s very interesting, but the minute I saw the Kodoku pot in the OP, I went “OH NO.”
Since kodoku and the aspects of Jugon-do that focus in the misuse of it to cause curses to others rather than using it to break them and treat illnesses seem to be very central to the story, I’m just really nervous about it. I know Takahashi has touched on the idea of people being put into a kodoku pot or pit thanks to the fact she toyed with it in Inuyasha. Just… the fact a lot of this story seems to be handling what happens and what can go wrong when you screw around with inflicting curses…
The nerves be really high.
