MAPFund Fizz
Pictured above: 2015-16 Rome Prize-winning composer Nina C. Young, artistic director/pianist Sugar Vendil, bass/librettist Andrew R. Munn.
It’s NCP tradition to create a grant-inspired cocktail each time we finish a major application. We present to you the MapFund Fizz. When you’re done with this, make yourself a Dirty NYSCAtini, a NEApolitan, or a Mo’ Money Mojito.
We applied to the MAPFund with composer Nina C. Young and bass/librettist Andrew R. Munn for a cantata called “Making Tellus: a Mandala of the Anthropocene” (working title) inspired by the Anthropocene, a big word that we all need to know. It denotes our current time interval, where we humans have profoundly altered the natural geological processes of the Earth. Challenge of the moment aside from raising $$$: coming up with a descriptive and simple title. It premieres in 2017, so no rush. Until then, we drink!
The MAPFund Fizz
1 oz gin 1 teaspoon of juice from a lemon 1 teaspoon apple cider 1 teaspoon of honey 1/4 cup of seltzer Ground cinnamon, for garnish Dance moves In a cocktail shaker filled with ice combine gin, lemon juice, apple cider, and honey. Shake vigorously as you do interpretive dance; the more avant-garde, the better. Top drink with seltzer and garnish with ground cinnamon. Serve immediately with reality sandwiches, contemplate terraforming, and discuss the Anthropocene. Support NCP It’s that time of year! Help us make projects like “Making Tellus” happen. Contemporary classical music is at the heart of our work, and we make unique performances happen through collaboration with artists from a variety of disciplines.
