These French Canadian maple crullers are a delightful twist on the classic donut. The addition of pure maple syrup gives them a unique flavor that's perfect for any sweet tooth.
Ingredients: 2 cups all-purpose flour. 1/4 cup granulated sugar. 1/4 cup maple syrup. 2 tsp baking powder. 1/2 tsp salt. 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted. 2 large eggs. 1/2 cup whole milk. 1 tsp vanilla extract. Vegetable oil for frying. Powdered sugar for dusting.
Instructions: Mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt together in a mixing bowl. Whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, maple syrup, and melted butter in a separate bowl. Mixing until a dough forms, pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. In a heavy-bottomed pot or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil to 375F 190C. Dough spoonfuls should be dropped into the hot oil and cooked for two to three minutes on each side, or until golden brown. After taking the crullers out of the oil, pat dry with paper towels. Sprinkle powdered sugar on the crullers while they're still warm. Enjoy your delectable maple crullers after serving!
