XIX: The Sun – Tear

The Sun symbolizes happiness, joy, energy, optimism, and accomplishment. Occasionally, it is also associated with one’s initial happiness. Warm, radiant, and full of energy. It represents the dawn that comes after the darkest night.

My part for MapleStory X Tarot Card Collaboration! I chose The Sun because this arcana is represented by Tear HEHEHEHHEHE

Sunflowers are always potrayed as closely related to the sun, which is why I drew lots and lots of sunflowers!

Sunflowers are very....sunny....but it has its own charm, just like how Tear is! Tear is someone who is very cheerful and sometimes loud, but she has her moments too, and she is really, really strong in her own way.

I really like to think that Tear has her own delicate side of her, like how she would always care for Kyle and Veldie, in a way only she knows how to. That's why I made her holding the sunflower (...delicately...), almost like how she holds her important ones in her heart. She has been bullied ever since she is young, but I think the strongest part of her is that she never did let it pull her down, but instead she made it a reason to smile.

VII: The Chariot – Aran

The Chariot Arcana is a symbol of victory, conquest, self-assertion, self-confidence, control, war and command. To triumph in battle a between between things that oppose. To break through obstacles and overcome stagnation (either in yourself or in an ordeal versus others), moving forward as a chariot does.

XII: The Hanged Man – EunWol -The Hanged Man Arcana is associated with self-sacrifice for the sake of enlightenment, the bindings that makes one free, paradoxes and hanging between heaven and earth. To take the time necessary to reflect over one’s upcoming actions. -There’s no better arcana to describe what EunWol has done. As a result, he becomes displaced from time, a paradox of sorts. I’m so glad to be part of @martianunicorn‘s MapleStory tarot collab! I’ve always wanted to do a maple tarot thing but don’t have the endurance to do all of the major arcana by myself lol. I think this is the most effort + longest time I’ve spent on a digital piece?(or any piece at all) I know I complained a lot while drawing this but BELIEVE ME I really had fun :D i am masochistic ok

Below is the description that was given to me, but I’ve added more tarot meanings I picked to represent even more below in the blockquote

XIII: Death – Kinesis

While it is associated with foreboding and of doom, Death Arcana also symbolizes the metamorphosis and deep change, regeneration and cycles.

The introduction of Kinesis introduces great change to the Seoul World. As the first psychic, his existence heralds more strange happenings in his world

Death does not discern between classes - pawns to bishops alike are not spared from Death’s reach.

Death signifies not just an ending, but also rebirth. Just as the Sun sets every night, it is reborn again in the next morning.

The sinkhole represents Death’s passage - usually depicted as the River. The sinkhole is the change Death brings about, and the portal to the other world.

IV: The Emperor – Freud The Emperor symbolizes the desire to control one’s surroundings, and its appearance could suggest that one is trying too hard to achieve this, possibly causing trouble for others; some elements in life are just not controllable.

My contribution to @martianunicorn ‘s Maple Tarot Collaboration! Parts of the background got cut off by the frame, but the chains symbolize a desire for control/stability. The background w/ space is supposed to allude to how he’s both dead and has to gain all the knowledge in the universe on order to achieve his goals, but I don’t know if I pulled that off orz

XI: Strength – Demon Slayer/Avenger 

The Strength Arcana is associated with the morality about the stronger power of self-control, gentleness, courage and virtue over brute force. The balance of compassion and brute force. Coming to terms with the “beast within”; controlling the use of one’s inner power and primal instincts. It can also represent creative or physical energy that needs to be or is about to be unleashed, sometimes out of desire to be recognized.

Maplestory BGM: Despair on Devil

My submission for Maplestory tarot collab! There are many person I need to thanks, like my friends who guided me through all colors, and @martianunicorn for making this happen and for many helps ;w;

I am having fun and enjoy painting him a lot. There are many things happened along the way, but in overall I am satisfied with it!!(explanation on what happened is long, so if I’m not lazy there might be another post for this lol)

To explain all designs in the card, the original image of this card is a calm woman with the strong lion, which in this case was presented by Demon Slayer and Mastema. (In this one, I think the meaning is quite opposite as Mastema represent the endurance and DS represent force.)

I also tried to define Demon Slayer’s “strength”, and explain them in the card. His physical strength is obviously shown by himself using Demon Avenger’s 5th Job skill: Blood Feast. His hair also has both red and white color to shown the balance between Demon Slayer&Avenger, portrait the balance of both forces that are unleashed. 

Also in the storyline, it is shown that Demon Slayer’s source of strength came from his own desire to protect his family. This led to the brutal use of power by becoming Black Mage’s general, but later he went through realization with the loss of his family and join the Resistance, using his strength to protect their comrades. This is presented by fire in the background that burn his family’s house in Leafre.

In overall, these meanings are straightforward, but I think it is the best way to shown Demon Slayer’s strength.
