have you read the chosen by chaim potok? not a book i really recommend lightly because at a certain point it turns into very blatant zionism (was written by a jewish author in 1968 about the ww2/post-war period in america) but a character in it studies freud & psychoanalysis in a way that reminded me of your posting. it's good apart from the zionism tho

I haven’t though I’ve heard of it. I’d be curious to read & see how the zionism is integrated because Freud was Jewish & in 1930 (when support for the zionist project was the dominant ideology in the west esp amongst the intellectual class of jewish people) he was asked to sign a petition condemning a riot by Palestinians. In his letter responding he clarifies that he’s not against the current Jewish presence in Palestine (there was a university in operation in Jerusalem but the settlement was under the authority of Mandatory Palestine and subject to its laws). He clearly states he believes that the territory could “never become a Jewish state,” because the non-Jewish citizenry would not be content with another faith’s authority over early Islamic & Christian relics/holy places. Now, to be clear Freud freud later has hundreds of handwritten pages of research on ("abnormal".) sexuality burned by the nazis, then rumor of its contents are used as a legacy lasting smear campaign so that despite being one of the most valuable thinkers of the contemporary era, a century later he's still distrusted as the perverted old [jew] <- the worst part is how well it worked.

Anyway. He calls jewish support of an "israel" established in Mandatory Palestine the result of “baseless fanaticism” & that yes, the people of the middle east have begun to be distrustful of the Jewish community & he sees that jewish people are reacting against that tension—but that the Zionist project is entirely to blame for the awakening of this distrust. He saw it :/ & says he can “awaken no sympathy” for a movement intent on elevating the status of the Herodian Wall (that's a type of greek structure but he's using the term to designate a symbolic/ideological wall in the social order dividing "western" religions (good/civilized/mannered) and "nonwestern" religions (primitive/violent/untrustworthy)
