So here’s a cool thing - the Republic of Macedonia (so-self-designated since the dissolution of Yugoslavia) has been in a tussle with Greece about its name since 1991, with Greece claiming the name of Macedonia for its northern province (think Alexander the Great), and Macedonia maintaining its right to the name due to, like, its geographic and historic usage. Well. Just this year, in February, Macedonia and Greece finally came to an agreement that Macedonia would be known as the REPUBLIC OF NORTH MACEDONIA - as opposed to its provisional name in the United Nations, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM). So yay, Macedonia, and congratulations! (I guess?)
