Coron 2009

June 5-9, 2009. With Chem Engg friends (Jean, Kat, Shie, Rowie, Aileen, Mark and Jonats) Itinerary: 1st day 11:30 am – Early Lunch 12:30 pm – Off to the Islands – Siete Pecados (snorkelling), Cayangan Lake (hiking, swimming), Lake Barracuda (di na namin napuntahan, nagbabadya ang ulan, kailangan makalis ng maaga) , Twin Lagoon, Banol or Caliwantay Beach (di na rin napuntahan), Makinit Hot Spring (mainit, makinit hehe) 5:30 pm – Back in town / free time 2nd day 5:30 am – Go up the 786 steps of Mt. Tapyas for a wonderful sunrise and a panoramic view of the town and the islands (missed this, maulan even on the 3rd day) 7:30 am – Breakfast 9:00 am – Off to the Islands(raining so hard, kinailangan magstop over sa 1 isla para magpalipas ng masamang panahon at magtanggal ng bubong ng bangka) – Calomboyan Island , Coral Garden (di na kami pumunta) , WW II Sunken ship at Lusong and Japanese gunboat off Sangat Island (gave this up also). 5:00 pm – Back in town / free time 3rd day 9:00 am – Off to Banana Island or Malcapuya Island (dito kami pumunta, sakto umaraw na!) , two beautiful white beaches. 4:30 pm – Back in town / free time 4th day 7:00 am – Breakfast 8:00 am – Off to airport for trip back to Manila. There is still a lot to explore in Coron! Beautiful, beautiful place!

Maquinit Hot Springs, Coron, Palawan

Another place one ought to hit while in Coron, Palawan is the Maquinit Hot Springs. Mt. Tapyas and Maquinit Hot Springs

Mt. Tapyas is one of the most popular destinations in Coron. After more than 700 steps, you'll get a clear view of Coron Islands. It is recommended that you climb the mountain before the sunrise or sunset to see a very spectacular view.

I went here with my whole family. Trekking was quite easy for us because there were stairs and handrails. Yay! 600+ steps to go...

This was my first time to climb a mountain so I got tired easily. I really needed to take a rest for a couple of minutes. I had to climb and climb and climb so I didn't drink a lot of water. My stomach would definitely hurt if I did so I took precaution.

After an hour of trekking and resting, we finally reached the top. *Wee*

We went here around 5-6pm but unfortunately, we didn't see the sunset clearly. There were sporadic rains and it was too cloudy. They said that there was a storm coming that's why.

Our guide gave us a tip to have an interesting picture. It's called "Kiss the Sleeping Giant". I wonder if my sister's kiss would wake him/her up? By the way, the giant's gender is unknown. It all depends on you! :D

After a very exhausting day, we relaxed by dipping in Maquinit Hot Springs. It's a saltwater spring and its temperature ranges from 38-40 C. It's good for aching muscles and joints.
