Do you think Kate and Clint's relationship makes more sense if Clint is a father figure or an older brother to Kate??
What does people have with labeling Kate and Clint relationship as father and daughter or as siblings. Kate sees Clint as her friend, mentor, and family. neither as a father or brother.
If you don’t mind, could you explain the whole storyline of clintbobbi? I heard that they got married and divorced but got back together and I’m so lost.
That's totally understandable, their relationship is pretty messy ngl. So here you have the whole storyline and the respective comics:
Hawkeye (1983) #1-#4 their first meet up and they got married, just 9 days and they are so madly in love with each other.
The team meets Bobbi in Avengers (1963) #242.
West Coast Avengers (1984) #1-#4 Vision makes Clint the leader of the new West Coast Avengers and of course his wife is on the team.
West Coast Avengers (1985) #1-#34 and Annual 1 they love each other here, nothing to highlight.
We also have glimps of their relationship in Solo Avengers (1987) that was later renamed Avengers Spotlight, but this run is more Clint centered. Nothing to say, they're just being a lovely couple in the first issues.
West Coast Avengers (1985) #35-46 Clint doesn't support Bobbi in her decision of not saving her abuser.
From here it gets messy, while in WCA we have a interpretation that they are breaking up, in Solo Avengers/Spotlight we see that they're trying to fix their relationship, because despite of all, Bobbi keeps loving Clint (for some reason).
For example, in Solo Avengers (1987) #14-#16 Clint's is getting ready for a date with Bobbi but gets an emergency call, and Bobbi follows him.
They're my doomed straight couple....
They're in good terms in Avengers Spotlight (1989) #21-34, #36, #38 but you can ignore all that because they're going to divorce in WCA!!!!!!
Look, its very messy. They want to divorce, but then they want to come back. In the end, they do not get divorce and they even want to start a family!!! but ignore all that because THEY KILLED BOBBI in Avengers West Coast (1989) #100.
But you know what? YOU CAN EVEN FORGET THAT BOBBI DIDN'T WANT TO DIVORCE HIM, BECAUSE IT TURNS OUT THAT SHE WAS REPLACED BY A SKRULL IN Avengers West Coast (1989) #90
But that is something that we're going to discover years later, the point is that Bobbi stayed dead for years. Clint even went to Hell itself looking to save her soul in Thunderbolts (1997) Annual 2000, but it turns out he was tricked into salving Patsy Walker.
BUT! BOBBI IS REVIVED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SKRULL WAR IN Secret Invasion (2008) #8
Here their relationship is more stable, but with their issues at first. Bobbi came back from traumatic event and wants space, but Clint is very protective and doesn't wants to lose her again. We can see all this in New Avengers: The Reunion (2009) #1-#4.
They decide to try again, but this time not getting married a week later.
We see their relationship developing in New Avengers (2005) #48-#64
But, then in Hawkeye & Mockingbird (2010) #1-#6 they brake up again. BUT NOT LET THIS FOOL YOU, this is probably my favorite comic of these two.
They didn't brake up for some bullshit Clint's done, or because they do not love each other, but because Clint loves so much Bobbi is willing to change his own morals for that, and that's something neither of them wants. They brake up because they're not compatible now: Clint lives down the line "Once an Avenger, always an Avenger", he's a lot of things, but first of all a hero and a Avenger, meanwhile Bobbi never felt that she fit in the WCA, she has her ways to her job, ways that not always are the ways of an "Avenger".
They got officially divorced in Hawkeye (2012) #9.
BUT (again) in the end of Thunderbolts (2022) #5, CLINT INVITES BOBBI INTO A DATE!!!!! A DATE WE NEVER SAW BUT IT'S SOMETHING!!!
Then we got and update in Black Widow and Hawkeye (2024) #1 and they're good.
But, this year we got this confusing joke in Spider-man: Holiday Spectacular #1.
So... Short version? They got married in the 80's, Clint fucked up, Bobbi was replaced by an Skrull, then the Skrull died, then she came back and they're together again but NOT married, then brake up and they got divorced in 2012, and now they're... dating? i guess??
I hope this helped, if not, IM SORRY IF THIS IS MESSY IM SO SORRY.
what are your thoughts on the evolution of bobbi morse in marvel comics? from how she was originally portrayed in the 1970s to how she's portrayed these days? :3
also random tangent but i just have to say she has the prettiest cover art EVER
HIIISANSSSSSSSSSSSS
Just yesterday I was listening to a podcast that kind of recapitulated Bobbi's life trough the years, and one of them say that Bobbi was always defined by relationship with Clint. That she's Hawkeye's wife before Mockingbird. While in-universe that can be true (more in the early comics of the wca anyways) obviously I disagree.
Even when she was married to Clint, she never was just his wife, when someone needed to put Clint in his place, she never hesitated to be that someone. If he was being misogynist or just an asshole the first one to call out him was Bobbi.
West Coast Avengers (1985) #5 & #8
And her mini arc in the Lost in Time-Space arc was also just another demonstration of how Bobbi is her own character, that she's not just Clint's wife, that she as her own morals that she stands for even if he doesn't agree with them. In the moment she didn't feel comfortable in their relationship she left him and the team (and half the team left with her lmao).
Also I have to say I MISS HOW SILLY SHE WAS HERE BRING BACK MY SILLY BOBBI 💔💔💔💔
Solo Avengers (1987) #1
Anyways trough all those years kind of the main thing she went trough was going back and fourth with Clint UNTIL SHE WAS KILLED 💔💔 she couldn't escape to be fridged sadly.... Sometimes I ask myself what she could been if she wasn't killed off, but also the result of that leaded to my favorite comics of her and a main theme of character, that's the whole "I can be everyone" thing and her identity. New Avengers: The Reunion IS FANTASTIC, it explores her ptsd from the time she was a captive of the Skrulls and WE CAN SEE HER HURT, WE CAN SEE HER BROKEN, AND I LOVE THAT.
Bobbi being taken away of her own agency is a recurring theme, when she was kidnapped and assaulted by Phantom Rider, when she was kidnapped and replaced by the Skrulls, when Clint injected her with an experimental drug to save her life, when she was left of alone in AIM Island being someone she couldn't recognize and when she was brainwashed into thinking she worked for AIM all along.
All those things weren't explored enough, and add to that that we can see a peek that she never recovered fully of her time captive of the Skrulls.
Silk (2016) #1 & The Unstoppable Wasp (2018) #4
There's so much room to explore here, I don't think her case is like Nat that she sees herself as a weapon, but she sees herself as dispensable (not just the "I can be everyone, lost myself in a crowd" but also the thing of doing the work in the shadows, distancing herself of her loved ones, so they can still living a happy life that she can't be part of).
Yk we see a lot of things more in the theory than in the practice, AND DYING TO SEE THAT EXPLORED INSTEAD OF JUST BEING A ONE TIME MENTION IN OTHER HEROES BOOKS.
These days she hasn't got a lot of spotlight, she's supposedly to be in a relationship with Clint again, and even if I love them and I think Clintbobbi is interesting, if we don't get something like Hawkeye & Mockingbird (with the whole thing of Bobbi changing Clint for worse, that they love each other but they are just not compatible) I would prefer if Marvel just let her be and explore her character outside of her past romantic relationships.
so, in short: this is me asking marvel for mockingbird v2
i am such a lowkey hater of mcu-ified clint/nat not because i even dislike them per se, but because i resent the way basically all of clint’s other friendships with women have been written out because of them. pre-bendis clint felt waaayyy closer to janet and wanda friendship-wise than he did to natasha to me, and he had such fun dynamics with a lot of the other female avengers. now they barely seem to interact anymore :/
Yeah, exactly that.
And it's not just female characters anymore, I would love to see Clint and Hank interact again. Or Pietro, Rhodey, etc, any of his other male friends (that's not just Bucky) (Or have a writer that centers his relationship with Steve again and why they are important to each other, but whatever)
At least in Unstoppable Wasp v2 Janet mentions him time to time 😔😔 at least we have that.
Also I miss his dynamic with Pietro and Wanda so much, he was like their third* sibling💔💔
SECRET YOU DON'T KNOW HOW INSANE I AM OVER THAT FUCKING SPEFIC DIALOGUE I AM NOT NORMAL ABOUT IT ITS EVERYTHING CLINT JUST KEEPS AND KEEPS LOSING PEOPLE AND MARVEL WILL NEVER HAVE HIM AKNOLEDGE HOW THE ONLY FAMILY HE EVER HAD WAS THE AVENGERS I AM NOT NORMAL ABOUT IRIEUGHKEURGHJXGSLDGNL.KGHFDLJKH
