Idk its a really weird issue to unpack..... As someone who obsessively loves a lot of things I think about this a lot. What causes, justifies hysteria and whether it's something u grow out of or if it affects u in a more permanent way...

I know what you mean, and that’s when the issue of the fans who absolutely worship the band come in, it’s not a very healthy message to put across.

If ur w someone, they should be a friend/companion to u first, not their job or their status. I know he's probably saying all of this in jest and most fans understand this too, but young girls listening to a band member basically baiting/challenging them like that.... Idk :////

Yes. It’s almost like he is objectifying myself, and sure that may be fine in the moment but if it actually came down to a incredibly young fan taking these words seriously, it could start a lot of drama really quick as some people would take it as a challenge rather than a simple comment. Like sure, I adore Matty and I find him attractive, but I know that sleeping with him, even at the age of sixteen, probably isn’t a reasonable thing to do, because although I’m not fully matured, I’m mature enough to think for myself and know right from wrong, whether as some of these young fans may quickly follow along just because they idolize and practically worship the band and would do just about anything to be with them.

I totally get by what u meant in ur post about the 13 yr olds thinking they can sleep with matty. It makes me feel weird when he insinuates that he'd go out with a 'fan' in the sense of a really young who is in love with an image/idea of a clever musician. Not that it's wrong to love band members, artists are really interesting and inspiring people! But he's kind of subtly promoting an unhealthy power dynamic, bc he knows that there are girls who r hysterical and would do anything to fuck him

Exactly, the girls that look at members of bands as if they are some kind of god scare me, and these things Matty has apparently said also contradict things they have said in the past, for example the interview where George explained how if it were to be a young boy screaming things at a young girl the situation would be entirely different and that either way it isn’t the correct thing to do. I’m not trying to hate on Matty whatsoever, I just feel as if he should be a little more cautious now that they are gaining a larger following which also consists of younger fans.
