Remus and Lily Conversation
*Just something I’m working on. I keep thinking the Marauders era would make a really great television show. Let me know what you think! This is my first hand at fan fiction and for some idiotic reason, scripts are not allowed on fanfic.net!*
INT. GRIFFINDOR COMMON ROOM. NIGHT
Lily and Remus are sitting in the common room by the fire very late at night.
Sirius has come downstairs to see where Remus is. When he hears them, he stops on the stairwell to listen in on their conversation.
LILY
(upset)
Remus. Remus listen to me. You are not a bad person. You’re not. You’re a very good person. Who, bad things have happened to. And you can’t keep blaming yourself for something that was completely out of your control. The world is complicated enough already. You need to forgive yourself and realize how much the people close to you care about you. How much we all love you. It’s not about what’s happened to us in the past or how we were raised or our families or any of that. It’s about the choices we make. That’s what determines who we really are.
Sirius realizes while listening to Lily’s speech that he’s got tears in his eyes. The whole time she was speaking he was thinking about his own family. How horrible they all are and their beliefs and how he’s chosen differently. Quietly, so as not to disturb them, he turns and goes back up to bed.
REMUS
(sheepishly)
So, you love me Lily?
LILY
Of course I do Remus.
LILY
And pray tell me what on earth would make me love such an arrogant, self-centered arse as James Potter?
REMUS
You know, I think it’s funny.
REMUS
That you fail to see how similar you and James actually are.
LILY
What on earth are you talking about?
REMUS
One of the greatest things you have in common, is that I consider you to be two of my best friends.
Lily’s eyebrows lower as she goes from skeptical to thoughtful.
REMUS (CONT’D)
You give him a lot of shit Lily. But all the reasons you say you hate him. His friendship with me proves they just aren’t true. I’m a werewolf. One of the most feared and hated creatures in our land. And he accepts me anyway. You don’t give him enough credit Lily.
Lily is stunned by Remus’s speech and he gets up and stretches.
REMUS (CONT’D)
I’m going up to bed. And Lily, thank you.
He bends down and kisses her on the top of the head and goes back up to the boys dormitory. Lily stays there staring into the fire for a moment, not quite sure what she’s feeling.
