So there's a post going around about the difficulties of Shiba Inus, how aggressive they can get, and how difficult they are to train. Let me just say, as someone who grew up with a mother who is an official cat lady, and has had a multitude of pets throughout her entire life:
All pets need to be researched before owning, and most need training. Yes, even the ones that are good for beginner pet owners.
I want to address this because of the new pet that's becoming a new fad around Tumblr, the Fox, mainly the Canadian Marble Fox. Yes, they are charming and cute, but want to know what else they are? They are difficult to train, they have odors stronger than dogs, they are shy around strangers, they have very special diet and exercise requirements, they are destructive to house hold furniture, and are so intelligent as to be great escapists (fox info here).
And there is a counter to this argument that of course, there are people out there with foxes that have trained them well, but I'm not saying that you shouldn't get a fox, all I'm saying is that, as an experienced care taker for pets, all pets need training and proper care.
So please, please, PLEASE for the love of god, do your pet research, take online quizzes, ask experienced pet owners and people who work at animal adoption facilities about animals, for your your future pet's sakes.
