Many stone and marble 'effect' surrounds are often made from micro-marble. This material uses natural stone or marble that is crushed then moulded into shape with a small amount (often less than 5%) resin. These fireplaces are not suitable for high output fires or solid fuel fires but look and feel very much like the real thing and are at a fraction of the cost.
