Upon discovery of a series of large webs in the forest, Spot spends probably too long a time using twigs and mud and a couple of closely grown trees to construct a giant web of its own. Upon completion, Spot knocks on a couple of the webs and waves excitedly as it waits to see if someone will come.
A spider emerges from one of the densest knots of webbing when the tentacle knocks, blinking owlishly in the daylight, and snarls aloud. It resembles the usual caste of spider warriors, but with vivid reddish markings rather than the usual dim yellow.
Annoyed at the intrusion, the red warrior hisses, crouched to make a quick strike at the impertinent tentacle, but the arrival of a many-legged shape coalescing out of the shadows gives it pause. Webber waves back the overeager warrior - who slinks back into its den - and looks over the tentacle’s weblike creation with interest. This was not a tentacle’s natural habitat - they stayed anchored in place in their swamps - and they didn’t generally build things... What had prompted this new development?
