MARCH
"Coincidence day"
It's a major coincidence that I just decided to start my blog in March and my favourite Australian architecture and Interior company is called MARCH Studio! (Click here to visit their website).
March Studio design and build architectural wonders and also transform the existing with their interior design and graphic skills. This is what I call a complete design company! It emerged in 2007 in Melbourne and quickly became globally known.
Here are the creative people behind this amazing design:
Rodney Eggleston (Principal/Architect)
Anne-Laure Cavigneaux (Creative Director)
Julian Canterbury (Architect)
Sam Rice (Architect)
It's a good idea to research about them in case you're looking for inspiration.
Continuing with the coincidences, I picked my favourite Interior from MARCH Studio; which resulted to be the interior of a retail store of one of my favourite fashion designers from Croatia: Damir Doma. (Click here to visit his online store).
This interior, the Damir Doma store, is in Paris. The pictures were taken from Damir Doma's Pinterest.
The amazingness about this space is how March Studio managed to create a modern, expensive looking interior whilst still leaving a bit of rawness in the rack wall by giving it an "unfinished look" that blends beautifully with the sleekness of the space. Combining such elegant materials like glass and wood with the raw wall is quite a challenge that MARCH achieved beautifully.
The neutral wood flooring (what I think is a pale French Oak) creates an advancing movement of line throughout the store making it look longer. The unusual shape of the wooden floor is called parquet flooring; it is a very old method of floor installation where edge flooring is individually glued and pinned to plywood onsite and then finished to achieve a modern flooring style.
I personally love including a wow factor in the ceiling, because it is "The place of the interior that everyone can see BUT nobody can touch"; just like an art piece. The perfect example is the hand-crafted mirrored ceiling of this Damir Doma store; it is a clear work of art that will cause an impact when entering the store and will reflect all the other features and lighting in a clever geometrical way.
The mainly white/neutral colour palette makes the interior look shiny clean and elegant, and the black wall and details create the perfect contrast.
If you're luckily in Paris... go have a look at this amazing interior: 54 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré 75008 Paris, France
