Hii I’m still fairly new to MotoGP and have yet to choose my faves so pls tell me who your faves are and why you like them (yes I saw the feral Pecco love in your bio, that was one of the like 3 things I understood 😭😭)
And hey if you wanna be a hater.. feel free to I just want lore.
Hii, thanks for asking!
I spent many months trying to figure out who my fav rider was at the beginning. I was really into Bastianini and Bez at first, but I always had one eye on Pecco. I started following him at the end of 2022, so it was easy to say "Pecco is my fav" and I didn't want to seem like a fan just because he was the reigning world champion. So, even though he was the rider who thrilled me the most, it took me a long time to accept it. If I had to tell you a reason, I honestly wouldn't know. I think it's something you feel inside. I like Pecco's way of working and his riding style, his personality off the track and how he handles things, but these are things I also like about other riders. I simply feel for Pecco more when he wins.
As for Luca, I started following him because I started following Vale's academy. I have to admit, I've always had a soft spot for the ones chosen last, the favs of no one who chooses to fend for themselves, and I think Luca reflects these characteristics a little. Despite joining MotoGP on Vale's team, he's never been "comfortable." He's a hard worker, and you can see that in the Honda development, which was practically done by him and Zarco. I really liked how he left the strongest bike on the grid (Ducati) in 2023 to move to the last force (Honda) because it was the bike he'd dreamed of since he was a kid (even if it hurt to see him leave Vale's team).
Then Bez, as soon as I started following him, I liked his reckless side, the fact that he was someone who rode with an open heart, who seemed fearless, who did things on the track that bordered on the overtaking move of the century and a galactic bullshit. I liked how he turned down Pramac in 2023 (and therefore a factory Ducati contract) because he didn't feel ready yet, and how he handled the situation at Aprilia last year. He's grown a lot compared to before, and now he's still attempting the overtaking move of the century, but only when he understands he has the right feeling for it.
Another driver who is at the same level as these is definitely Diggia, he is also a bit like Bez but his driving style is very clean, he has made very few overtaking moves where he has touched anyone, very few indeed, and honestly off the track I find him really fun.
Now, first of all, forgive me for the poem I wrote, then feel free to message me privately about anything. If you follow F1 and want to tell me your favorite drivers, go ahead, and maybe we can find a driver "similar" to the MotoGP riders.
I recommend you also follow Moto2/3, they're really worth it. Just remember that when a rider has something special for you, you feel it. Don't let yourself be influenced too much by who other people like or by "don't support this rider because..." No one really wants to see someone who isn't their favorite win.
