Marcos Is Not A Hero

2008, a highschool boy who dreams to fly,

mustache, heavy books, decorated mindset,

seated at the row 2nd to the last,

classroom walls with posters of national heroes,

in the air is the smell of floor wax

and chalk dusts...

History books by history books,

teachers by teachers,

we were taught about

our country's darkest times --

the Hispanic colonialization,

the American and Japanese occupations,

and the Martial Law era.

I wasn't born during those times,

but I won't forget

the thunder that struck me

when I watched a video of Ninoy being assassinated...

He could've gone away,

stayed in the US for good

and history will still favor him,

but he chose to come back,

proved that Filipinos are worth dying for.

2017, a slacker, a Degree Holder,

still dreaming to fly,

traffic jams, job requirements, undying persistence,

a dandelion on the roadsides,

streets crowded with people who turn a blind eye...

History changed...

People now call the Martial Law era

the greatest time our country ever had,

and Marcos as the best leader we ever had...

Why? Because we have a President

who is a liar, a mysoginist, a murderer,

a rapist, a racist, and idolizes Marcos.

1977, Martial Law era,

Boyet Mijares, 16,

eyes gouged out, nails ripped out,

skull bashed in,

his Father wrote an anti-Marcos book.

2018, in mind, in heart, in soul, in actions,

a Filipino...

dropped every single dream about flying...

Ang point nito ay hindi mapabangon si Marcos (duh di kami tanga) kundi malaman ng buong sambayanan ang katotohanan na pilit baluktutin. Re Fidel Ramos, aba tanungin mo ang mga taong bumoto sa kanya, di pa ako buhay noon. At ano po ang connect? Pa explain po. P.S. Di po ako galit sa iyo or something ha. Anointed by the late president Cory, Fidel V. Ramos (the chief of the Philippine Constabulary during the Martial Law) became one our President. Juan Ponce Enrile (the chief administrator of the military force) was also given a good office. And was later elected senator–even as Senate president during Noynoy administration. 

These two were solely responsible and accountable of the tortures and deaths of those thousand communist activist your were talking about. Sila yung mga nagpapatatay dun sa mga aktibista, dun sa mga pinagkamalang komunista na mostly ay mga kabataan. But why were they elected? Ni hindi sila nanagot kahit katiting sa mga kasalanan nila? No one I guess, filed a cased against them. Sila yung nasa ground eh, overseer lang tong si Macoy. 

Dahil ba kasi tumulong silang mas palubugin pang lalo ang palubog ng barko ni Marcos? So dahil trinaydor nila yung boss nila, abswelto na? I don’t think so.

Isapa dalawa sa mga Aquino ang naging presidente ng bansa, bakit wala man lang sa kanila ang nagpasa ng panukalang batas para HINDI MAILIBING SI MARCOS SA LNMB? Kung totoong gusto nilang mabigyan talaga ng hustiya yung mga namatay bakit wala silang ginawa? Are they really that concerned about those victims o ginagamit lang nilang rason yun para sa kanilang sariling interes?

Presidents have veto powers which practically can go above the law, if supported by the majority of his/her constituents. Ang tanong, bakit hindi nila magawang magpasabatas ng EO na magpapatigil sa paglibing kay Marcos sa LNMB? O i-influence ang SC court para magawa nila yun? Diba galit sila kay Marcos? 

Ngayon na meron tayong presidente na mas piniling tuparin kung ano ang nakasaad sa saligang batas, papalag na kayo. Eh kung noon pa sana yan ginawa eh wala na sana tayong problema ngayon.

Marcos is indeed no HERO in the name of morality pero practically hindi yan totoo. He is included as one of the 39 awardee of Medal of Valor–in the new AFP Hall of Heroes in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City. ( http://www.philstar.com/news-feature/673563/afp-hall-heroes-includes-marcos)

Alam mo ba kailan nangyari to? During the administration of the former President Benigno Aquino lang naman. Eh bakit walang nagprotesta noon? Bakit wala atang nagalit noon? Bakit ngayon lang, na si Duterte na ang presidente. Is this really a fight against the Marcos or a means to oust the administration of our good president?
