Marcus Cole is falling asleep

There’s a process to it, at times like this. Sometimes he chases, trying to hang on, to not come back, but other times in the aftermath he’s warm and sated and content and loose. She has pulled him to her, his head on her shoulder, and she waits for the words to stop, his *when you did that I -* or he’ll tease *that sound, I will -* before she cuts him off with a squeeze. And when the words run out he’ll stretch, all taut limbs for a few seconds before his weight returns and she feels him settle against her, arranging himself just so, his thumbs tracing a pattern on her skin, slowing, restarting, stopping and he gets heavier against her, the odd twitch as his breathing slows and then - he’s gone.

She waits until she’s sure, and then brings her hand up against his face.

Marcus, the protagonist of BIOWEAPON Eclipse, was named after Marcus Cole from Babylon 5, one of my favorite sci fi series.
