“Oh you’ve gotta be fucking kidding me,” Aiden grumbled as he jiggled the door knob again but to no avail. He had left his keys on the kitchen table that morning when he had nipped out to see what was on offer at the Farmer’s Market that day. There wasn’t really anything he wanted, he was just trying to get his muscles working after laying in bed for so long. The fact that his keys were on the table didn’t even cross his mind and now he was locked out, in the cold, with no chance of being saved. He could easily go to the library or the bnb. He could go and get his dad’s keys but he wasn’t sure he wanted to deal with that embarrassment. He could have went to the Drovers but considering how everything had went down the last time he was there he felt it was better to stay away and protect his dignity.
He wandered around the house, trying the windows. Aiden was the kind of person that would make a room freezing just so he had an excuse to sleep under five blankets and, as a result, he was really good at forgetting to lock windows.
His bedroom window should have been the first place that check but, because of his own stupidity, it was the last place that he checked. The window pulled open pretty easily once he broke off the ice that had formed over the seal. He’d just managed to get his foot high enough to start climbing into the window when he heard someone clearing their throat. Aiden winced instinctively. “Listen I know what this looks like but this is my hou- oh. Uh... hi.” The sight of Marcus had his stomach churning and he didn’t know whether it was a good or a bad thing. He stayed in the awkward - and frankly painful - position for a few seconds more before he dropped himself back down. “I locked my keys in the house somehow.”
