Margashirsh/ Agrahayan from Agrahayani Nakshatr, is very auspicious month. Shiv vivah & Shri Ram vivah took place in this month. As per Vedic tradition, Margashirsh is the beginning of the new year. Shri Krishna says in Geeta ji, “Among the months, I am Margashirsh & amongst the Nakshatras, I am Abhijeet. मार्गशीर्षोऽधिकस्तस्मात्सर्वदा च मम प्रियः उषस्युत्थाय यो मर्त्यः स्नानं विधिवदाचरेत् तुष्टोऽहं तस्य यच्छामि स्वात्मानमपि पुत्रक। - Skand Puran HE says, “Margashirsh is dear to me, I Myself Am available for those who follow Nature’s discipline,wake early, bathe & begin their day. मार्गशीर्षं तु वै मासमेकभक्तेन यः क्षिपेत् भोजयेच्च द्विजाञ्शक्त्या स मुच्येद्व्याधिकिल्बिषैः सर्वकल्याणसम्पूर्णः सर्वौषधिसमन्वितः कृषिभागी बहुधनो बहुधान्यश्च जायते Ones who eat 1 meal in Margashirsh & feed Brahmins,stay disease free in every life & r never short of food & wealth. मार्गशीर्षं समग्रं तु एकभक्तेन यः क्षिपेत्, भोजयेद्यो द्विजान्भक्त्या स मुच्येद्व्याधिकिल्विषैः।। - Skand Puran Those who eat 1 meal in entire Margashirsh & devotedly feed Brahmins & needy, are liberated from all diseases & sufferings.
