one token spent to map the stars at the oculus above were’s library with @thexreluctantxviscount
It was a testament to the academic heart of Delilah that she did not intend to spend the entirety of her time in Margate chasing down every possible pleasure the town had to offer. Granted, of course that was a big portion of it, but she’d also wanted to see the library, and had spent most of her first afternoon cloistered inside the building, thumbing through the ancient tomes they had available, and chatting softly with the librarian. This was how she found herself on the roof of the library, a large, half finished star chart spread out before her, scattered with small annotations she’d made. It was hard to see by the light of the moon and the stars, so she knew her notes were likely going to need to be copied onto a new set of pages, but still, she’d look through the telescope, spot a constellation, and then jot down another note.
Her back was starting to protest from how she was hunching over the telescope and then the paper, so she sat up straight, stretching out her spine. Delilah reached behind herself, pressing her thumbs into her lower back, and hummed softly in relief at the slight pressure, casting her eyes around her as she did. There were a few people about, scattered across the length of the roof –– a couple here, with the gentleman stretching his hand out to the stars, an academic there, her hair pinned up haphazardly, and a gentleman who seemed uninterested in his telescope at the moment, his head tilted up towards the sky. She glanced at him for a moment, trying to place his face, which was difficult in the low light, but something about him looked so familiar....Delilah started to squint, her brows furrowed, and then blinked, eyes beginning to widen. She rose quickly, heading straight for him, her steps brisk but careful. “I’m so sorry to bother you,” she began, her voice soft, “I just wanted to–––” He turned, which was good, because Delilah had no idea what her next words were going to be, and she blinked again, suddenly delighted. “Tolly Albarron, is that really you?”
