Notes: Sometimes "meet the alien" stories are meant to show that it's a good thing humans haven't made first contact yet, because we'd treat the newcomers terribly. Sometimes humans are the aliens, and usually these stories show that other planets' inhabitants would likely be far less cruel than we. I'm not sure what this story is supposed to show, unless it's that every man, human or alien, is an abusive rapist and that every woman is an object.
The author's notes mention a similar story written years ago in which a human is honored by aliens with what amounts to torture for a human. I'm not sure why she felt the need to retell the story with added sexism.
