For the anon who hasn't held hands or gone on a date yet, don't worry! I didn't engage in any of the typical romantic-type activities until I was 19 and I'm a-ok. I'm actually very happy with my partner now and I'm glad I didn't try to rush into being romantic with someone I didn't like so much for the sake of fulfilling some societal expectation. We often pressure youth to start dating asap, but you should do what makes YOU happy and own who you are! Best wishes! You're not alone <3

I could talk about this all day but just briefly, I think that MLK Jr. day is essential because what MLK Jr. did for the civil rights movement was essential and is so important to this day (and will continue to be). However, it disappoints me that children (and people in general) don't often get enough education about the civil rights movement and about racial justice/inequality and for most this is merely a day off, not a day to be thoughtful and learn from the past. Just my two cents, though.
