I'm Romanian and almost everyone I know ships or likes Klaroline. And some of them don't even watch tvd/to.

Klaroline is flawless, everyone ships it lolI have a tumblr friend who ships it despite never having seen a single episode of TVD.  I talk about the pairing quite often, so she became interested and looked up all of their scenes on youtube.  She fell in love with the couple and started reblogging my Klaroline posts :P  Like you, I know people who like Klaroline despite never having seen the show.  It's a little weird, but hey, their chemistry is even palpable through gifs lol  The ratings would soar if Klaroline became canon in The Originals.  There are less episodes, so there is less to catch up on. Those who stopped watching The Originals would likely return and those who ship Klaroline despite never watching TVD or TO, would also tune it.  Klaroline is honestly the best thing that could happen to The Originals.  It would solve a lot of the show's problems while also bringing in more viewers.
