Happy WBW! Is there one aspect of the worldbuilding that you always prioritize, regardless of wip? If so, why?

That's a really good question! I think if there's one I always prioritize, it would probably have to be history. It might be because I'm somewhat of a history nerd but I find that knowing the answers as to why the world exists and how it came to be are infinitely fascinating and gives a nice anchor for the rest of the world building.

Even with stories that have minimal settings, I like to know the history! A good example is there was once a WIP I had where I attempted to write a murder mystery and the history behind the town made up a big part of why the murders were even taking place.

I'm hoping that made an semblance of sense but thank you so much for asking!!

“There’s something you need to know, dearest Salima.” Janvier’s smile became a little too wide for Sellie’s liking, her hand gripping just a little too tight to her cheek. Her nails dug into the surface of her skin. All of her hair, flowing and crimson nearly draped over Sellie as if ready to drown her.

Not like Sellie could run. She wanted to.

She didn’t have to say a word - Janvier already knew. 

“The eyes and ears can be fooled, but the spirit never lies.”

She released Sellie from that crimson, never releasing her gaze until she turned on her heel.

It took several hours to feel like she could properly breathe again.

Happy STS! Do you have any favorite brainstorming techniques? How do you like to gather ideas for your wips?

idk i guess i just read stuff in the same genre or make a playlist for the vibes, then i'll try to either jot down some notes or try to write a random scene i've been thinking about. stuff like that.

I use Pinterest for brainstorming. Each WIP of mine gets its own Pinterest board. Usually a Spotify playlist, too. I have to know the vibes/atmosphere of something before the plot.

I had a new idea for an unlimited flow story and now I’m having fun daydreaming about liminal places being creepy😊 so far I’ve got carnival, nursing home, camp ground, performing arts centre (with pipe organ!), and container ship as arc settings.

Ooo I'm liking I'm hearing so far!! Especially the performing arts center with the pipe organ (:

If you don't mind me asking, what have got going so far outside of the different settings? Do you have a loose plot or is just going to explore the unsettling nature of liminal spaces?

I'd absolutely love to hear more >:)

Honestly, my favorite thing is to often lay down somewhere comfy, put on some tunes, and imagine how I want my story to go! I try to keep journals or my phone near me at all times so I can write anything I come up with down.

I'm also a big fan of going on Pinterest and finding images/quotes that invoke inspiration which I use to create ideas!

Hi! Here's a question you can answer if you want: What’s a scene that you are dying to write and why?

Hi!! Hope you are well <3

So I can't go into it too much because of spoilers but there is this one scene in my Nite & Daye WIP that I literally cannot wait to write. Basically, one of the main characters reveals this uh,,, fairly crucial information about themselves that turns the tides of pretty much everything. I absolutely love writing reveal scenes and with this being one of the most important ones, I'm just super excited to write it!
