• MARS HEADCANON:

To the bewilderment of Mariko, who has never really been in an environment where someone can gift her things, without strings being attached to them; Markus enjoys coming back from his jobs with presents for his small partner. Varying between practical items (such as knives; medical herbs; etc.), or less serious items (such as cool rocks; braided and dried grass; pretty flowers); whichever happens to come across his path, before he returns to the gang.

Lately, Mariko has decided to fashion the flowers that he picks for her, into genuine accessories for both herself and Mona—carefully braiding a number of flowers into the flowing locks of her beloved mount; and discovering how to create lasting pins for her own hair. Hopefully, they’ll survive her violent life.

In an attempt to express her gratitude for his kindness—Mariko is very slowly starting to hand over her own gifts to Markus; although, they’re namely more practical gifts; such as ingredients for arrows, fire bottles, and medical tonics. She did give him a rock with a pretty gradient the other week, although found some struggle in parting with it, due to how pretty it was—resulting in Markus deciding to keep the rock within Mariko’s tent; much to her own excitement.
