“ you’re wrong ” for reece & heidi // “ don’t look ” for harper & carson
“you’re wrong.”
“am i really wrong, heidi?” he’s fuming, but he knows better than to yell at her now. they’d known each other long enough that he knew her past, knew just how she would react to something like that. and though he was mad, he could never scare her like that. he cared too much. so he takes a deep breath instead, trying to think through his words instead of just bursting out in anger. “don’t act like you don’t have feelings for me. i’m tired of having this back and forth with you and of your absolute denial of what you feel for me.” he grabbed his jacket from the couch and keys from the side table before looking back at her once more. “i’m going out. i’ll come back when you’re ready to tell me the truth.”
“don’t look.”
harper wasn’t sure what to expect when he said that. she had been studying practically all day at the library, only coming home now at about midnight. despite her situation, she wasn’t going to drop school or let herself get behind. “why? is something wrong?” she peeked through the front door anyway, watching carson jump up from the couch where he had been, with a girl. “oh.” her face fell, once excited to see him now nothing more than disappointed. they hadn’t discussed what they were at all since she’d told him she was pregnant, but she had hoped. and evidently, hoping was stupid. “you know what? it’s fine, i’ll just um, go stay with my friends. have fun.” she slammed the door before he could try to explain, only now letting the tears fall.
