My wife and I had a conversation that went like this:
“Would you be interested in a guest blogger?” -Christina “Talk to me. Yes.” -Me “........” -Christina “Are you gonna tell me more?” -Me “I was gonna write a blog about my meal prep idea. Actually, I already wrote it.” -Christina
So, without further ado, here is a blog written by my wife who not only makes me laugh every day but also keeps our home filled with the most deliciously beautiful foods.
I did something different this school year that made my life a whole lot easier, and I’m excited to report, saved us a lot of money. For one, I started using Clicklist at Kroger. Some may argue paying an extra $4.95 to have someone shop for you is wasteful, for me, it preserves my sanity and doesn’t allow me to throw things in my cart that I do not need. I simply order the groceries online, and pick them up on my way home from work. Second, I prep my meals…not with Tupperware and meals made ahead, oh no, oh God, no. I write down everything that I’m going to make that week, order ONLY those ingredients, and make enough for 4 people. This way, we always have food for lunches the next day. Third, I started using an app called “Evernote.” This free app allows me to save recipes I find online, and access them when I’m ready to order my groceries. Just this week, we only spent $60 for five days worth of food. These three changes make a huge difference in our pocketbooks, and in the way we are eating. I’m not saying we never eat out, what I am saying is, grocery shopping and deciding what we are going to eat the following week no longer makes me want to rip my hair out.
In my free time, I love to look for recipes, follow food bloggers, and get new ideas of how I can prepare clean meals. In my list I’m about to show you, you’ll find the recipes that I LOVED and repeated too many times, and you’ll find the ones that I hated and were never repeated. This list does not include what I made on the weekends, and does not include food I made/prepped over extended breaks.
Also, here is a list of the food bloggers I can’t live without, that keep me entertained for hours, and have helped me to make homemade, fresh food, every single week this school year. I don’t write my own recipes, but I do know where I can find really good ones, really quickly.
