💀 — a pack of rice crackers were dropped upon his desk, right atop some discarded paperwork. "ojii - san, let me hide in here, pleeeeease!" iva was being hounded by sakazuki ; though the man was a fleet admiral now, he still found time to scold her for laziness. she gave out a pitful whine and flopped into a chair "big boss is being mean again!!"
shes trying to bribe marine grandpa for a hideout @marinehero
@marinehero asked: Garp was silent, arms crossed stiffly over his chest as he glared at the man he'd finally managed to find. When he'd heard the (reports) rumors, he'd requested a ship immediately under some random excuse, unable to sit still despite the scoldings he knew he'd get out of it. There was more to it, of course there was more, this was Kuzan, dammit. But... Blackbeard? Disgust curled within him. But still, out of respect for the past ( damn lot more than the other felt, apparently ) he would give the former marine a chance. A chance to speak? Or one to run away? Well, that'd be up to Kuzan, wouldn't it. [ 👉👈 @ aokiji rev. army verse?
during the week he had spent on the island , he managed to avoid the navy’s radar up until now , because he knew how to get out of sight or be so persuasive that his location would not be discovered . blackbeard was nowhere to be found , not within a radius of the nearest island and that's how he would like to keep it for now ( for as long he needed to ) , refraining from getting himself involved until necessary , gathering intel in the meantime . . . but for which side exactly ? that particular island was a common spot where he used to stop : a winter island where camel would be comfortable and where he would have enough time to buy supplies for another journey and as well get some rest , without his own ice trails standing out too much comparing to the surroundings .
as he returned to the temporary camp near the docks , it seemed like someone was waiting for him . the stout , familiar figure didn't look so happy and whether it was about kuzan’s presente or regarding his recent activities it was something the blue pheasant was about to find out , but what kuzan was really wondering was how he had gotten there so quickly and how did garp knew where the former admiral would be - discovering someone else’s whereabouts as a marine was easy , but when you’re the one who doesn’t want to be found it doesn’t sound so great after all .
the sound of boots against the gravel as he shortened the distance between them was the only sound heard during the walk , his long dark green overcoat that hid his scars swayed as the tall man walked , sunglasses hiding the look that sought not to give himself away so easily . sengoku, garp, he only hopes you can understand him.
〝 arara , are you here on a break ? or is it . . . eh . . . what was it again ? 〞 despite a few years had passed , his mannerisms stayed the same - kuzan reaches behind his head to scratch the back of it , before shrugging . 〝 well , nevermind . it’s been a while , garp 〞.

His hunting of marines had started a few years ago, back when Mihawk himself had received his first bounty. The laws stated that a criminal could not have a bounty paid out to them, and so this had effectively ended his bounty hunting career. It had been his greatest source of income. Pillaging ships did not compare, and the whole ordeal of that was a messy nuisance. It was out of annoyance and spite that Mihawk had turned his hunting onto the Navy. A message, if you will.
It seemed like his message was being heard, as someone of significant status had finally been sent out to deal with him. Mihawk’s adrenaline began to pump, his grip tight on Yoru as he stood tense across from the Hero of the Marines. It was the first time in his life that he genuinely wasn’t sure how well he’d fair in a battle. Garp was known as Roger’s equal, and to have a living legend standing in front of him that thrilling feeling of uncertainty that he he was always on the hunt for. He hadn’t felt anything close to fear in a long time.
“So the government has finally sent their dog.” Mihawk commented, a short chuckle escaping him. “I have no interest in testing my strength against a man that fights with his fists. It is uncouth and primitive.”
@marinehero / Garp said . . .
“No matter what you are, you deserve to be loved.” [ for sabo... that other brat...
for those who feel like a monster …
That was... perhaps one of the last things he expected to hear from the fearsome Vice Admiral, the man that Sabo had learned to be afraid of through Luffy and Ace in their youth. Dragon himself never talked much about his father – so all he had left to go off of were the nasty bumps left upon heads as children. To say that he considered the man as someone soft in any capacity would be appallingly inaccurate, yet it just went to show that you couldn’t really know someone. And frankly, that was something way nicer than his own parents had ever said to him that he could remember.
Sabo swallowed heavily around the lump of unexpected emotion and lowered the brim of his hat momentarily to attempt to mask how aggressively he had been blindsided by this. Then – it passed. Gaze lifted and he provided a smile to the hero of the Marines, cocksure and bright, though no longer a gap-toothed like he had as a child.
“Thanks, old man...! The same goes for you!”
@marinehero liked for a starter!
"that was the best meal i've had in ages," he said as he was licking his lips to savor all the flavors of the food he had been given. it was true that he had been fed well when he was on water seven, many of the civilians made him homemade meals while he worked at galley-la, but after what had gone down, he didn't know if he'd ever have a home cooked meal like this again.
turning to garp, he bowed his head in thanks.
"i appreciate you sharing with me."

The way things had played out on Foosha Shanks would have been content with never running into Garp again. The feelings were a far cry from the way he'd once felt about the man. His childhood felt larger than life from every angle. A boy on a legendary pirate ship, witnessing countless battles and taking place in just as many. Shanks, by the side of his great captain.
That boy no longer existed.
But here, now, in Garp's grip, he couldn't help but think of the man hoisting him in the air. Together, they'd once played riveting games of tag, hide-and-seek, and marines versus pirates. All in good fun.
He peered up at the man, feeling very much the boy he had been. Garp still towered over him.
And as with the legend, Garp's fist left a mighty wallop. His head spun and yet Shanks knew that he held back. Blood filled his mouth and he let out a groan, eyes clenching shut, barely hearing the Marine's words. Shanks let his head fall backwards. It would leave a mark, he knew. He'd be bruised and sore tomorrow, assuming Garp didn't kill him.
For what you've done.
Slowly, Shanks opened his eyes, and listened carefully. Garp looked hurt far worse than Shanks had ever seen him. The boy that had admired him—the one that had loved him even—yearned to reach out. To comfort. To do something ridiculous to make him laugh.
To Luffy.
There it was.
Luffy was the key, here.
Garp's pain felt palpable and Shanks reached up with his hand—(just the one, though his stub of an arm lifted too, as though his left hand were still there. He hadn't gotten used to it being gone)—and grabbed hold of Garp's white coat of justice to steady himself. What a joke.
“He's still talkin' like that, huh?”
He grinned—white teeth smeared with blood from the man's punch. Of course he did.
“I had to Garp.” A sudden surge of desperation rose in his voice. “You don't understand. I almost didn’t–” His breath caught in his throat and Shanks coughed. He turned to the side and spit the blood from his mouth on the ground beside him. “I didn't plan on giving him the hat, but then he–”
Shanks cut himself off and laughed. He threw his head back and laughed, loud and full-bellied. Maybe Garp hadn't pulled his punch as much as Shanks thought.
HIs hand tightened on Garp's jacket, pulling him closer, pulling him down. “He said the same thing as Captain Roger. The exact same thing.” Joy rung clear in his voice. He'd wept when he'd heard those words leave Luffy's mouth.
“Someone needs to carry on his legacy...and it can't be me. Luffy can! Luffy can bring in the New Age, Garp! I know he can! He'd never be a Marine–” He chuckled and released his hold on Garp's jacket. “–but I bet my arm he'd make a great pirate.”
[ @marinehero ] also grandpa. as a treat :)
❝ i don't want you on my crew ... ❞ the words are muttered, trailing off as the dark-haired captain's lips press firmly together, then press out to form telltale duck lips. his gaze averts, though calloused fingers still cling to the slip of paper with tension. if someone were to attempt to pulling it away from the straw hat, the bingo card would certainly rip.
❝ you're no fun. ❞ in one final act of visible self-betrayal, a light flush of red spreads across luffy's cheeks and to the tips of his ears.
he's lying, or in denial, but most likely both.
