SDG: Life Below Water
The Sustainable Development Goals are a collection of tasks or duties that are needed to be fulfilled. It is about securing the future of the Earth by solving problems that it faces today. Its goals must be completed by 2030.
One of those goals is safeguarding marine lives. Careful management of these resource is the key towards a sustainable future. But as of now, bodies of water and creatures that lives under it are being destroyed and killed slowly. Overfishing, oil spills, dynamite fishing, and other issues regarding sea life. Kind of ironic because some people out there are ruining the environment to provide food and health to them. Eventually, a day will come where they’ll abuse nature until it depletes and we will no longer have resources, possibly resulting in our extinction. We must remember that not only is it essential for mankind, but it has also been conduits for transportation and trading throughout history. So, more reasons to not destroy it.
Marine areas should be protected and managed effectively to solve these issues and hopefully prevent more threats in the future. In that way, we can assure our safety and we will not be scared or worried of ourselves at some time in the future.
