More Product, Less Process, part I
For most of the history of archiving, or at least as long as finding aids have been around, collections have been described down to an item level. This, combined with an increase in acquisitions and a decrease in staff has created a massive backlog within many if not all institutions. Authors Mark A. Greene and Dennis Meissner sought to combat this issue, by proposing a new theory of processing: “more product, less process”.
