The idea of Roy being from Resembol too it feels me with glee. Though I still want him to have his connection with Madam Christmas. So maybe the Madam has a house there in the country and Roy spends his summers and winter breaks there. Also the idea of Roy and Ed growing up knowing of each other. Roy at first seeing Ed as this little kid who was grumpy but always following him around because he's alchemy nerd too. People making comments about Ed's mother being a lot like that when she was a girl, following around Hohenhiem. Than Roy goes to the military everything changes so much. A lot of Resembol have so many feelings about Roy joining the military, Ed being upset Roy is leaving. But makes Roy promise to write him. He does at first but than suddenly stops with no word. Ed dealing with his mom being sick at the time, is too busy and worried to be too sad about it.
Roy and Ed haven't seen each other in years. Ed's mom just died(Im not fully sure how the timeline and age difference would work in this, I'm probably messing it up but bare with me here) and Roy wasn't there for the funeral. Finds out what and Ed and his little brother did human transmutaion. Oh this could be so good. People in Resembol making comments about Edward and his solider(some people are homphobic, others are accepting. Mainly because its such a small town with lots of people having lost people do to the war. So people learn to be more accepting). I just like the idea that for Royed Resembol represents childhood and summer for the both of them (that they cant get back). Like it's giving vibes of Call me by your name.
Thinking about the implications of this, especially if you stick to fma 2003 universe. But maybe a mix of both. This idea came to me because of the fma 2003 universe lore where Roy had a connection with Ed's father.
