Hey there Sunshine.
Mountain Cedar Tree Exploding With Pollen!
"Video of Juniperus Ashei ( Mountain Cedar) releasing pollen in Helotes, TX on 12-30-2010. Cedar trees are one of the only trees in the world that release their pollen in the winter, causing grief for allergy sufferers throughout much of Texas. Video Copyright 2010 by Mark Langford." https://marklangfordphotography.com/
Fun little doodle of my detectives and how each fairs doing an all-nighter.
Gale: Conked out at 11pm and now has to hurriedly finish
Mark/Evelyn: Through the power of coffee/energy drinks they managed and are now dead
Viola: Made it, not happy, wants sleep
Edgar: Just made it
Robyn: Perfectly fine (somehow)
Thought I’d get back into writing again, so have a short scene from right after Mark broke up with Bobby. It was this moment that solidified for Mark that there’s no point in serious relationships and lead to all his future relationships all being casual (which looks to be changing with Morgan).
-----------------------------------------------------
How stupid could he have been.
Mark cursed at himself as he ripped open the door to his university bedroom before slamming it behind him, the old board protesting against the force. With the same vehemence, he threw his bag across the room, not caring as the wether it hit the opposing wall or if anything inside it got damaged.
How fucking stupid was he.
Tears stung his eyes, threatening to spill out and stain his face yet he wouldn’t let them fall. With every fibre of his body, he willed them to stay in place. He couldn’t let them fall. Not bothering to turn the light on he threw himself on the worn bed and glared at the slightly off-white ceiling. Memories and emotions raged inside like a storm, tearing through him and ripping out more as they swirled violently.
“Fuck!” he yelled into the empty space throwing his fist down into the bed as he did so, the only answer the gentle noise of the university through the cracked open window. Everything was her fault, every little fucking thing. Why hadn’t he seen it? He really was a fucking idiot. Mark ground his teeth together as memories of early tore through him once again.
----------
“Sorry handsome, it’s just how it is” Bobby replied dismissively as they came to a stop outside the department and into the sun.
“Just how it is? You stole my fucking work and then told the teacher I copied you!” Mark turned towards the attractive woman, anger radiating from him as he glared down at her.
“Don’t get so emotional about it” Bobby shrugged before a coy smile played on her lips “I can think of a much better use for those emotions” stepping in close to Mark she began trailing a delicate finger lightly over his chest. Shoving her away from him Mark managed to stop himself from outright punching her in the face, the force being more then Bobby had expected causing her to stumble slightly.
“Don’t fucking touch me”
Bobby made to say something in response but her mouth snapped shut at the look Mark was giving her. For the first time that day, Mark saw uncertainty and fear spread across her face. At times he worried if he came across as too intimidating yet now he didn’t care, she was lucky he hadn’t outright grabbed her.
“We’re done” with that he turned, striding off before Bobby could give an answer. Did he even hear one from her? He couldn’t remember, all he remembered was the blinding anger and the thought that if he stayed any longer he’s do something that would land him in shit.
----------
Pushing himself up Mark rubbed his palms across his face, trying to black out the fresh memories that stung at his mind and heart. He’d let that woman walk all over him, twisted him around her finger and it was only now that he was seeing it.
She was a snake, of cause she was. Every word out of her fucking mouth had been poisonous and he had drunk it up, believed every little lie that she had fed him. Mark wanted to scream. Scream at her for doing what she had done; for leading him on, lying to him, using him. Scream at his university lecturer for believing her over him, accepting her lies and punishing him for them. He wanted to scream at himself for not seeing through it all, for accepting her lies and enjoying their time together. But more than anything he wanted to scream at the betrayal he felt, the hurt of kindling feelings which weighed him down now and ate away at everything else.
Slumped over the bed, Mark laughed bitterly at himself as the light of the day slowly embed by. His head was bent low next to his limp hands, his arms resting against his legs in an attempt to stop his from collapsing. At least, to him, it felt like it was collapsing. His anger had passed leaving him only with bitter pain and a hollow ache in his chest.
“What good are feelings anyway if this is all it leads to?”
Trapped in the constricting silence of the room Mark slowly let the pain consume him, his only company the warmth of tears trickling from his dull eyes.
Well I’ve finished the first one.
Just a bit of dialogue between my detectives where they sit, chat and answer questions.
If you’d like to give it a read it’s down the left side then right of each page, with each detective being assigned a colour for their speech.
Decided to do some propotion practice and used my detectives boys as the models.
