          facial plates shift, a look of indignation crossing the exo’s features. hidden, of course, beneath his helmet. KNUCKLEHEAD RADAR. it’s nice, having a radar up in the sights, even when you’re aiming down it. he’s not aiming down it now. he’s craning around, leaning to the side to look at clarke’s rear end. 

          okay. he’ll admit it. it’s a nice ass. but did he have to throw cayde’s under the bus just to point it out? a snort rattles through his vocalizers, expelled with a hiss through vents. and he follows on isaac’s heels towards the pile of corpses, nudges one at the bottom with the heel of his boot.   “ i’ve got a nice butt. i’ve got the perfect butt. this butt? sculpted in the image of god. i was just saying spiritually, sometimes i’m the tramp. my butt needs no improvements. ”

It is on the icy wastes of Tau Volantis that the portal appears. It comes without warning; in a fraction of a second, an oval of orange energy carves itself into the chill air. For a moment, there is only the stench of ozone and the gentle hum of spacetime warping within the portal’s confines. Then GLaDOS steps through the threshold, and the door between universes disperses into atoms.

She surveys her surroundings, thoroughly unimpressed. She’s designed her trans-universal portals to never drop her anywhere excessively dangerous-- like the middle of space, or partway through a wall. Boring, intensely non-Scientific places, though? That, she has yet to program out.

Silently, she raises her temperature of her reactor core, which in turn warms her body. The falling snow melts upon meeting her now-temperate touch. The whims of mother nature are not a part of Science, and she refuses to take part.

Then, no longer preoccupied by matters of melting snow or calculating exactly how worthless this place is, she notices a man. Is he a man? That suit makes it difficult to tell what he is. But humans are to the universe as a resilient fungus is to a locker room; it’s a safe estimate that he is one.

GLaDOS regards the mystery man the same way she does for any potential threat: with a readiness for the worst and a concealed blaster heating up in her left forearm. Her expression remains neutral. 

“Oh, hello. You’re not the welcoming party, are you?”

SHE’D SPENT TOO MUCH TIME BEING CHASED BY SHADOWS. the dawn set her fear into motion, driving her further away from “home”, and deeper into the DARKNESS. running was too easy. it’d become second nature. her shoes in her hands, bare feel prickled by the sting of fresh dirt, she carried on, as much as she could. it’d only been hours, but the week-long fatigue  settled into her easily, driving her onward in fear of what lie behind her. finally, she made it to some semblance of light. a long speck of light that staggered along the reflection of night as it cast along the horizon. stumbling upon SANCTUARY with vacant enthusiasm, she dreaded pleading for help. her battles were her own, but whatever it was that chased her was far beyond her capabilities.     ❛     sorry to just BURST  in like this....   ❜    she breathed hard, a smile breaching under disheveled appearance,      ❛     but, you wouldn’t mind helping a girl out, now would you?     ❜
