‘You’re funny’
Marlene Waters || 18 || FC: Nina Dobrev || Taken
"Life is too cruel. If we cease to believe in love, why would you want to live?"
Marlene is not who everyone thinks she is. To everyone else, she’s the elitist and snobbish daughter of a great business man. But once you get to know her, you realise nothing could be farther from the truth.
Marlene’s always lived in the shadow of who her father was: a rich and ruthless judge. She doesn’t agree with his views in almost anything and that causes them to quarrel more often than not. Marlene takes refuge in her friends. They’re all she has, seeing that her mother died from sickness when she was very young. Marlene leans on her friends for everything, but it isn’t everybody that deserves that recognition from her. She doesn’t find it easy to trust people.
Luckily, she’s surrounded herself with amazing people to whom she knows she can trust her life and not be disappointed. She knows they’re always there, and they’ll never leave. Marlene feels comfortable around them to say anything that she thinks, even if it’s harsh or brutally honest. However, she also keeps a few things to herself. Like the fact that she’s caught her father having sexual relations with an attorney involved in one of his cases, which she later found out to be payment for a favour he did her in court. Marlene is disgusted by these actions her father practices, and is not able to look at him in the eye.
