URGENT #MARSCommunity: Calling all Puppy Lovers! We have been asked by HSUS to help with an urgent rescue crisis in Texas for 53 puppies and 5 adults coming in THIS Saturday, 3/7! MARS believes strongly in helping both ends of the leash - both pet and parent - not only right here in our MN backyard but it also includes helping other organizations, as well as their pets in need! When disasters and urgencies strike, we believe in clearing out shelters to make room for those in need when the need is great…and right now, the need is great! To accomplish this great mission, there are puppies in dire need of foster homes and community support! We NEED to band together MARS Community. Thanks to YOU - Look at Duck goooo! He is officially two weeks out of surgery, healing well, and running around like a puppy absolutely should be. (Okay, within Vet clearing reason, of course!) #MARSCommunity - Duck needs you! Duck is an adorable, sweet baby who was potty training, started to have an accident and this wiggly, enthusiastic puppers plopped on the floor after dad tried to get him outside instead. This left Duck needing emergency surgery and surrendered to MARS for help. Duck’s surgery was performed at the U of M: “Post-operative left femur: the mid-diaphyseal transverse fracture is reduced using a 2.7 SOP plate with 3 bicortical screws proximal and 2 bicortical screws distally.“ The U helped Duck out by applying some of their donated funds towards his surgery and we are hoping you’ll be willing to help Duck out too! We’ve included a copy of the estimate so you can see that the funds are needed and will go directly to Duck. We’ve only got a short bit to raise the money as the bill will be in the mail soon! #MARSCommunity - It’s been a little over a week since Bizzy Lizzy’s surgery and we wanted to give you an update! During surgery, they corrected her elongated soft palate, removed additional skin flaps that were on her soft palate, removed her tonsils to give her more breathing space and opened her nares (nostrils) as they were nearly closed. It was touch and go for 36 hours after her surgery as she developed pneumonia and could barely breathe, however she’s on several antibiotics which are working well! She’s eating, drinking and just about back to normal. Way to go, Lizzy!! HUGE thank you to those of you that have donated food and funds to her meals! She has gained weight and should reach her ideal weight within the next month or so on the Kangaroo food.
