Some soft Cofywan today. I used this piece as warmup between commissions over the last week, slowly spending about 30 mins at a time, just enough to loosen up my qrist and get into the groove for the day. Warming up before big pieces and commission work is very important for both consistency in quality and to avoid burnout on paid work with deadlines. I have learned both of these things the hard way, take my advice and do either small amounts of work on some personal art or some doodles before working. It will greatly help long term, good habits die hard. 💜I am open for Commissions, if you would like to get some artwork done for yourself, please fill out the form in my bio💜 #kenobi #obiwankenobi #starwars #starwarsart #kenobiart #starwarsclonewars #kenobiastarwarsstory #starwarsoc #starwatsartwork #starwatsclonewars #commandercody #marshalcommandercody #obiwanxcody #codywan https://www.instagram.com/p/Ch2XKCTrijF/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
O Hero | I will write about my character mourning yours.

Clones were always told to not get attached to people. Specifically, their squadmates, the very people who saved them day in and day out. And their was some truth in that. What if your best friend was one day obliterated by a missile or sucked into the vacuum of space? Your morale would drop and you would become a fault soldier. At least, that was according to the cloners.
But it never worked that way.
Rex had grown attached to a number of things: his clean-shaved head, his decorated armor, and his men. They were all valuable to him, on and off the battlefield. One in particular, Cody, was more valuable to him than the others. Even if he never wanted to say it aloud.
Unfortunately, it was today that Rex truly realized what the cloners meant. What the Jedi meant. That attachments were bad.
The battle wasn't as much of a battle as it was an ambush. Everything harkened back to Umbara; the scene was shrouded in darkness thanks to the night, the moon barely visible through the clouds. The clones were barely illuminated but Rex knew that Cody was by his side. He was tapped into the comlink as Cody was to Rex's. It was mainly for the piece of mind that the other was close by.
Silence filled the area, only to be shattered by the piercing noise of a sniper bolt and the unmistakeable grunt of a clone being hit.
"No."
The next few minutes that ensued were chaotic. Laser blasts were traded between the clones and the invisible enemy. There was no way they were going to survive the encounter. But Rex didn't care.
From the moment that he knew Cody was hit, he followed him to the ground and held his hand tightly. The white chest plate was now broken with a charred area just next to Cody's heart. There had only been three words muttered by the commander, only audible to Rex.
"I love you."
Now as Rex laid in his bed, curled up nothing but a pillow and sheet, he stared at the floor, unblinking. His mind was set to only think about those last few minutes, those last three words that Cody said. Rex had said nothing from that moment. He became mute, shutting himself off from everybody else onboard the ship.
No tears were shed. His eyes did water but no tears fell. It wasn't like Rex to show emotions of that extreme in front of his men. But for now, he was given the room while the others stayed away. And for good reason.
A broader view of the room revealed that it had been trashed. Containers had been toppled, weapons and ammunition was scattered around. Even the flimsi records were tossed around. Anger had ravaged Rex's mind and it was now visible.
But now he was exhausted, mentally and physically. His body curled tighter around the pillow and his eyes were shut tight, desperately wishing to have his body slip into a slumber so that he could temporarily forget about the demons that show themselves today. With a few of the previously-hidden sleeping pills taken, he could feel his eyelids droop down, growing heavier as the minutes passed.
The last thing he remembered was the face of Cody, smiling at him. The day that they confessed their love to each other was the greatest day of either of their lives. Short, perhaps, but it was a life nonetheless. He could hear Cody's voice in his head. Some thought they sounded alike but Rex knew better. He knew that Cody was different. And was his. And just before he slipped away into a state of slumber, he mumbled three words.

CT-7567 and CC-2224, known to each other as "Rex" and "Cody" respectively, wanted one more thing that they know they could rely on--each other. They had never let the other down, had never disliked the other. The missions that they worked on, they cherished. It was some of their more prosperous and successful missions. The chemistry between them was undeniable. And they acted on it.
It was after a particularly stressful mission. Casualties were had on both sides of the battle and in both of the squads led by the men. The squads had taken their freshers and hit the bunks. The only two still in the locker rooms were Cody and Rex. Cody took a seat on a bench, his shoulders slumped while the only thing that covered him was the towel. Rex came out soon after the other sat down and his attention immediately went to his comrade.
"Cody?" The Captain took a seat next to the other and looked over his form before nudging him gently. "Talk to me."
"It's stupid, Rex. Don't worry about it. Get dressed and get out of here." His voice was on edge, seemingly indicating that he had no desire to disclose what was on his mind.
"You can't order me." Silence. "Cody, come on. You can tell me what's go--" He was cut off by Cody's sudden outburst.
"I love you, Rex!" The Commander looked at Rex briefly before looking back and placing his head in his hands. "There, are you kriffing happy? I said it, I made a fool of myself. Now leave."
Rex sat, temporarily stunned by what just happened. He'd be lying if he said he didn't feel the same but he wanted to prod just a bit more to see how much info he could get out of Cody. "Why do you say that, Cody?"
"Because… Because you're a good person. I don't deserve it but…" He leaned back against the lockers, the cool metal chilling his back and making him sigh in response. "I thought I lost you. I thought that my feelings for you would have gone unsaid and unheard and I can't stand to think that."
A smile curved up on Rex's face, his hand extending to Cody's cheek to turn his head towards him. "I'm glad that the feeling's mutual, then." There was no kiss, no embrace. Instead, their foreheads touched in an intimate moment--or rather as intimate as their environment allowed. Their eyes were shut tight as they listened to the other breathe and make small sounds, indicating to the other that they were both well alive.
And Rex intended to keep it that way for as long as he could.
