black unicorns in this universe are unicorns that have lost their magic abilities

sometimes unicorns that are in the midst of losing magical abilities have colors and markings like normal horses before turning completely black

marshall dyes his hair black as a sort of an edgy, fuck u i do what i want purpose.

i had a friend i used to rp with that was really big into unicorns and hes actually the one that got me interested in them and that never really changed i never really stopped liking them

he kind of intensified my interest and i learned interesting facts about them!

some of them, however, he made up. here's a list of headcanons that apply to marshall

unicorns are naturally wild and free creatures and will not make a lot of attempts to socialize with humans

seeing one is incredibly rare

unicorns may choose to appear human so they may blend in better, but the disguise feels like heavy armor and is somewhat uncomfortable

because of this, marshall is constantly fucking around with what kind of form he wants to use, like plantigrade [human feet] digitigrade, [fawn legs/horse legs] elf ears, fawn ears, horse ears, and sometimes he appears completely human. He doesn't like doing that last one however because the magic intensifies for his disguise and limits mobility

he has two feral forms. one form appears scrawny and deer-like with a lion's tail, and the other is a slender white horse

unicorns come in all different shapes, sizes, and colorations but the most iconic is stark white

all unicorns must have blue eyes

HOW TO TAME A UNICORN

Learn their entire name and call them by it. Because of this, Marshall has at least six other names that he refuses to give out to protect himself. MARSHALL KENNETH DEIMOS is just his 'human name'. His real one is way longer and way harder to pronounce. The bond this creates is powerful / unbreakable until the speaker dies.

Use silver tack. Using a silver bridle and saddle on Marshall's feral form will bind him to you for as long as the tack is on him. So this is a highly temporary bond.

Really piss him off by slapping a silver halter/lead on him. Halters are used on horses like dog collars are used on dogs.

In his humanoid form silver chains can be used for the same effect

Once hes binded/tamed, he calls you 'master'.

BUT ONCE THE TACK IS OFF HE DOESNT OWE YOU SHIT.
