Bloomington, IN - Bloomington based artist, Marshall Lewis, has released his debut single, Chapters. The single is from his forthcoming debut EP, Higher Nature, which is supported from a successful Kickstarter Campaign. The song is available on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, Rdio, and dozens of other music services.
Chapters was produced by Marshall and Kevin Flick (Puddlegum), and was mastered by TW Walsh (Sufjan Stevens, Cold War Kids). The single is released via HighWire Records, prior to the release of his EP. The song was recorded at Primary Sound Studios (Farm Fresh) in Bloomington in September, and was finished in Marshall and Flick's home studio.
During the recording of Chapters, Marshall was backed by five local musicians: Peter Frey (Kazyak) on electric guitar, Matt McCarthy (The Sad Sam Blues Jam) on drums, Jeff Hockett on pedal steel guitar, Brian Dean on bass, and Matt Riggen on trumpet. Marshall sang all vocals in the song, and tracked acoustic guitar, electric guitar, piano and organ.
Marshall has been in the game of professional songwriting and recording in the studio setting since May of 2013, when he was just eighteen. He began working with music blogger, Kevin Flick, of Puddlegum, for production and management. Since then he released a number of songs on SoundCloud, accumulating thousands of song plays. Lewis has also been hitting the road to perform around the Midwest, accompanied by a number of touring artists.
