i barely post on here lately but im trying to get more productive at the moment but i wanted to basically address something 😬
i apologize if im mutuals or following anyone that would be uncomfortable with this since ive gone through a very manic personality shift the last little while but, to put it bluntly, im going to be posting south park stuff/art again. i have a very sentimental attachment to it and i dont feel the need to over explain myself since its really my own business.
if this offends you please hard or soft block me and my art blog. stuff will obviously be tagged if you dont want to unfollow me and just dont wanna see it. thank you

Unpopular but VERY GOOD Reasons to Review Fanfiction
I love fanfiction. You love fanfiction. We all love fanfiction. A reader can show their love for the fanfics they read by simply leaving reviews. Happy readers that leave happy reviews make happy authors and then wah-lah! Readers get more quality content and the cycle goes on! Reviews support and motivate authors to continue their stories, and we always have that one (errrr, okay MANY) fanfics that discontinued completely because the author was so disheartened with the lack of responses they received, a phenomenon I am positive many of you are aware of.
BUT!
I would like to offer 2 cents as to why writing reviews is beneficial to YOU, THE READERS, that will change your reading experience. Here are some unpopular but very good reasons to review fanfiction
1) I CAN'T REMEMBER A DARN THING!!!!!
Imagine, when was the last time you read this fanfic? Weeks? Months? YEARS AGO!? whatever the time frame might be since you last read, you don't remember what happened in the previous chapter! YIKES! Think of reviewing as note-taking or highlighting key concepts you enjoyed throughout the chapter you previously read. When I mean 'note-taking' I don't mean like note-taking in school. When you're finished reading, write a review and write all-or some- of the things that stuck out to you, THAT WAY, when you go back to reading the newest chapter, you can remind yourself of what happened in the story and jog your memory. plus, authors get a kick out of reading your notes, they can be quite funny :3
2) WAIT, WHAT CHAPTER WAS I EVEN READING??????
Not only have you forgotten what went down in the fic, but you entirely forgot which chapter you read and as a result...YOU ARE LOST! Reviews can serve many functions, and one function includes serving as a bookmark. Think about it, you use bookmarks when reading hard and soft covers, well, you can do the same with fanfics, and reviews will help you get that done. By reviewing, you spare yourself the aggravation of trying to figure out where you last left off (be it an entire chapter or a specific scene)
3) THIS MOMENT WAS SO CUTE! I WONDER IF THE AUTHOR WILL WRITE MORE OF THEM? :3
By telling the author what specific scenes or moments or characters you enjoyed reading, you can kind of guarantee that they will include more of it in future chapters, making you a very happy reader. But I must clarify, this is not the same as making demands. Readers have no authority to demand certain content of fanfic writers, but they can give their 2 cents as to what they enjoyed that was ALREADY in the story. For example, by reviewing that you loved a certain character and look forward to seeing more of them, you can kind of guarantee that the author will include more of them. yay :3 (BUT NO DEMANDING! for example, I know an author who was baggered to write a romance with the MC when the story wholly revolved around his relationship with his son...as a result the author retaliated by writing a romance with the MOST HATED CHARACTER IN THE ENTIRE FANDOM and tore readers hearts out in the process. This is a true story, be wise when reviewing *eyes emoji* )
4) I WANT TO REVIEW BUT I'M SO SHYYYYYYYYYY
Well, my dear. That is the beauty of the internet. No one has to know that it was YOU that read that smutty fanfic at 4 AM on a Monday night when you should have sleeping. GO ANON! BE ANONYMOUS! BE 'RANDOM-READER-THAT-LOVES-NACHO-TACOS-1854' the world is your oyster, go anon and pick a name with whatever amount of dignity you want attached to it. That is the beauty of being anonymous, you can still be shy, but no one will ever know its YOU THAT READ THIS FIC. EVER.
ALSO!!! Reviewing builds confidence. Even just in small increments, but nonetheless, it makes a difference. Let the author hear your voice. Let them know you like their story. Reviewing allows you to build your constructive criticism techniques, you become a better analyzer, and ultimately a better reader AND writer. As someone who was INCREDIBLY SHY and the thought of letting MY voice be heard TERRIFIED me, the first hurdle/review was the most anxious, but as you continue to write them, reviewing turns into something fun
Here are starter phrases to help you, the shy reader, overcome the first hurdle:
'I liked/loved this chapter!'
"This was hilarious!'
"Thank you for writing this story!"
"Keep on the great work!"
And for the pros out there feeling overly ambitious:
'I peed my pants laughing!' (or some iteration of that)
Even better are the ONE WORD starter packs, such as awesome, brilliant, super, cool, etc.
5) NO ONE MUST EVER KNOW THAT I READ THIS FANFIC
As stated above, GO ANON. Those crack fics need the most support of them all and any support they get will help tremendously. I, too, have felt that NO ONE MUST EVER KNOW THAT I READ THIS FANFIC. That is why going anon under 'RANDOM-READER-THAT-LOVES-NACHO-TACOS-1854' will save you from utter embarrassment and social shame. GO ANON.
6) I'M GOING GHOSTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
The only excusable reason to go ghost is when you are legit ded. Scroll down to the next reason.
7) BEFRIENDING THE AUTHOR HAS IT'S PERKS :DDDDDD
Authors LOVE when you give them reviews, reviews are like cookies and WE LOVE COOKIES. And you, as the honorary cookie bearer, we will love you infinitely. As such, you can befriend the author with all these delicious cookies and become friends! Not only will you become fanfic buddies, but maybe the author will idk......make a character inspired by you, maybe they'll make you into a cute, little, adorable af nen beast that can shape shift into anything and is PINK while being loved by all the MCs :DDDD (This is a true story, I've seen this happen :DDDDDDD )
8) THEORIES ARE ELEMENTARY, MY DEAR WATSON
Who doesn't like to spin a fan theory? Personally, writing theories is one of my fav things about reading fanfiction! And it is a known fact that authors LOVE readers theorizing about their work! So write that theory! YOU ARE SHERLOCK HOLMES! The world is 19th century England and it needs a detective to solve all these juicy mysteries! THAT'S YOU! BE SHERLOCK!
9) ENRICHING YOUR FANFIC EXPERIENCE
Getting involved in the fanfic you read makes the experience more memorable and fun. Above all, supporting your favorite stories and authors is a wonderful thing to do. By supporting the author who has taken 'god knows how many hours it takes to write a monster sized chapter,' you are showing your kindness and are helping them overcome hurdles of their own. Readers support writers. Writers support other writers. Readers support other readers. Readers and writers everywhere have one thing in common: their love for fanfics. Enrich your experience and show your support and when all else fails just dkfgkdfgkdfgkdfkgdkfgkdfgkdfgkdfgkdfgdfgdfgdfgdfgdfgdfgdfgdfgdfg your reviews. It's part of the experience :D
