"Just because I'm right, doesn't mean I'm being helpful" is a vastly underrated thought process that I strongly encourage others to get comfortable with
it’s crazy how when you’re 11 you think wow nationalism is the root of all evil and war is despicable and religion is the opiate of the masses and misogyny is everywhere and climate change is our most dire threat. and you start to grow up and you think well surely it will become more nuanced to me, surely there must be a reason adults arent breaking down wailing in the streets due to the cruelty of this world. and then you become an adult and you think wow nationalism is the root of all evil and war is despicable and religion is the opiate of the masses and misogyny is everywhere and climate change is our most dire threat
The stereotype of the nerd girl taking her glasses off and suddenly she's beautiful, but in reverse. A cold tough mean office lady who glares at everyone until she gets glasses and suddenly becomes sweet, approachable and friendly since she no longer has a constant headache over not being able to fucking see, doesn't need to squint at everything, and actually remembers individual people by name now that she can tell them apart at all.
I know we’re all like lawless nonconformists but you really can’t be texting and driving. that’s one of the ones you’ve gotta listen to for real
After seeing iron lung, I now understand why Markiplier had to go to the hospital for getting fake blood in his eyes.
He can't keep getting away with this
I too, thought this was a joke. . .
Welp, here we are again, folks! Merry Christmas, happy holidays.
I'm curious - does Mei ever calls Mitsurugi brother in the original? I've read somewhere that she (and also Shigaraki too) call him Reiji, but always wanted to ask someone who actually played it!
mei sometimes calls him reiji and sometimes mitsurugi reiji. he sometimes calls her mei and sometimes prosecuter karuma, so theyve both got a professional and a personal name. i think she called him reiji more in the gk1 flashback, but she usually calls him mitsurugi reiji more, while mitsurugi usually calls/thinks of her as mei. i couldnt find a screenshot but im sure she has called him reiji in the present setting
she never calls him younger brother, but she described him as like a younger brother once to naruhodo in gs 2, and this scene i do have a screenshot of
Police officer: 'You're older brother and younger sister who don't get on, aren't you?'
Mei: 'Older sister and younger brother! Don't get it wrong!'
i dont think older siblings really call their younger siblings 'younger brother or sister' in japanese, they just use their name, but younger siblings basically always call the older sibling older brother or sister. so mei uses the normal address for a younger sibling, and mitsurugi does as well (first name no honourific). the idea seems to be the older sibling has more status and the younger sibling should be more respectful
it never says theyre 'adoptive siblings' in the literal sense, but mitsurugi describes her as 'a younger sister in mentorship', as in they were taught by the same person. there isnt a word for it in english but this comes up pretty often in gyakusai
the use of 'younger sister' there isnt necesserily the same as an actual sibling, but in this case theyve been compared to siblings a few times and mei has said that she sees him like that. so although theyre not canonically actual siblings, they are textually 'like siblings'
going over to my minimalist girlfriend’s house and she apologizes profusely for the mess and there’s just a single perfect, fresh pea on the floor of her living room

"people are allowed to be grossed out"
ok. keep it to yourself. it's the polite thing to do. if i'm not enjoying food someone made, that i get to eat for free, i'm not gonna shit all over their cooking and personal tastes
My mother used to make a gorgeous chocolate mousse from scratch, and it was something she brought to every family event, and made for events we had at our house. She got the recipe in like 1989 and so it was upwards of six mousses per year and the whole fam looked forward to them.
Then one year at Easter something went wrong and the chocolate separated and the mousse was weird looking and a bit odd tasting (not inedible, just odd) and my cousin (who was only about 12 to be fair) ate his bowl while loudly proclaiming MY GOD THIS IS NOT GOOD AUNTIE D and WHAT DID YOU DO and THIS IS HORRIBLE and on the one hand we all laughed (inc mum) because it was so unfiltered and rude and he kept eating it even as he proclaimed it an abomination, and 20ish years later we still have a laugh about it.
But mum never made mousse for a family event again and didn’t even want to do it just for us kids or dad. She was really embarrassed and she lost her confidence.
My cousin didn’t need to say it. Mum knew it hadn’t turned out right. She brought it anyway because we’d told her she should and she didn’t want to disappoint anyone because this was so looked forward to by everyone. Maybe he was only 12 and didn’t know how to have any tact.
PLEASE CONSIDER THIS before you provide your ‘feedback’ on fanworks. You could be the reason some poor person never makes anything again, or at least never shares it with the community. Don’t whatabout the people who invite concrit me - just fucking have a think before you comment, okay?
Also fuck you Danny, I could’ve been eating mousse for 25 years if it weren’t for you!
new ebbits! new site!
this is probably my favourite comic of all time jsyk
can someone explain this to me?
Sure thing! For convenience I’ll refer to the guy with his arms in his pockets as SG (shorter guy) and the one on the computer as TG (taller guy).
In the first panel, SG sees TG playing on the computer and is disappointed. SG puts a lot of value in the idea of “making things,” specifically “art,” and thinks TG is just wasting their time
So he asks them if they wouldn’t rather be “making something” instead of just playing games and listening to music, implying that TG isn’t doing anything worthwhile or creative with their time
But TG replies that “interpreting is generative,” meaning that even if they spend their time just doing fun stuff, the mere act of enjoying something is creating an experience and an interpretation. Talking about something, dancing to music or sharing a piece of art with your friends IS “making something,” and each of those can be worthwhile and artistic.
SG leaves, complaining he “can’t be an auteur of [interpretation].” Auteur is a movie term that refers to a filmmaker with artistic control and vision enough to be considered essentially the singular creator of the resulting work of art. Turns out, SG doesn’t just want to “make things,” he wants to make things he and others see as “important.” He wants to make art not for the sake of art, but for the sake of being recognized and praised for his art.
This comic really speaks to elitism within the artistic community, the idea that art needs to meet certain standards to be considered art. SG’s viewpoint is really traditionalist, that art need to be “approved” and validated in order to be considered “really art;” while TG recognizes that art can be as little as just talking about what you love.
TLDR: Art is for everyone, not just some sort of social “artistic elite.”
ooh i love the explanation
Rebloging for that in depth and not even a little snarky explanation. 10/10
A question for the ages.
The earlier on Tuesday you reblog this the funnier it is. (5:28am)

i know it pisses some people off but i find it fun that most websites use the US flag for english and the brazillian flag for portuguese. kind of awesome. sorry england and portugal you colonized too hard so you dont get to own your language anymore. you gave it up to the americas. sucks to suck. go brazil.
