Is there a pairing name for Charles x John? I started shipping them recently after playing the game again and can't find any content. I doubt much if any exists, but I'm hoping.

I'm gonna be calling it Chohn unless I see another name going around.

Just thought about Charles writing to John over the years, the two of them empathizing with each other since they were both alone as children, in a world that wasn’t fair or kind, and as a result they grew into a life of hard crime.

Just thought about them finding a comfortable solace in each other as they’re the only ones left that well and truly understand how hard it was to put it all to rest and pursue a better, peaceful life; just thought about the day where Charles sends a letter to John and waits for a response that doesn’t come.

Just thought about what Charles must feel when he realizes he’s lost another dear friend—

Building a Home is Easier with Three

It was a nightmare. It had to be. There was no way to explain all this craziness. Leaving Charles. The train job. Van Horn. Those few agonizing hours where he had thought John had died right in front of him and his body thrown off the train. "Arthur, we have to move!" He wanted to wake up. It was just a dream. A bullet whizzed by his ear. "Arthur!" Maybe not. ○○○ Arthur has never had a place to truly call home before. That was before he learned that home isn't always the place, but the people there.

Restless Marsmith (John & Charles), not established; epilogue compliant Safe Haven members chatting about the idea of John not being able to sleep well at Beecher’s Hope led me into the inspiration of this wee snippet.

Charles being there, steadfast, is the thing that grounds John in the building of Beecher's Hope. Sure, Uncle's lamentations about lumbago ring familiar and the idea that this land is his, not some transient hideaway, keeps him both annoyed (Uncle) and moving forward (land), but it's Charles that keeps him from drowning in self-doubt and second guesses.  There, a constant, and though Charles gives credit to John getting him out of the fixed fights, John is the one that feels saved. Stupid thought, this; how many times has he faced down a posse with a few bullets and dry wit? How many trains has he robbed without once fearing death?  But here, domesticity on the horizon spooks him, leaves him skittish in the day and restless at night.

The rains come midway through their construction of the house and there's a tear in John's tent that allowed a passing breeze during the summer, but drenches him in the downpour. Charles lets him share space and shelter in his tent. Though he tries to keep near to canvas walls, to be something small and slender to avoid costing the other man sleep, John forgets that sleep is, at best, fleeting and fighting both for him. He never escapes the pressure, the expectations that he fears he'll never meet and it leaves him twisted and turning until his bedroll wraps tight around him. It's normal, to him, but it's got to be chaos for Charles.

 Four hours in and John figures that his sleeping in the leaky tent is better than ruining Charles' chance at a solid night's rest, so he starts to drag himself free of the mangled mess of his bedroll, resigns himself to a damp remainder of the night and--

 There's no warning when the arm comes up and smacks across his chest, dragging him back to the ground, good as pinning him there and Charles? He doesn't even open his eyes, just keeps the weight of his arm there and mutters: "Go back to sleep."

 John lays there a long time, shocked at this sudden contact; they've been closely working together, but Charles never seems the sort to want touch. However, an hour later and the man hasn't stirred, and John's slowly losing the fight against staying away, dead certain that he'll just roll about and make the night worse, but he's not able to stop the lure of slumber much longer, eyes drifting shut and breath steadying under the warm weight on his chest.

 When he wakes in the morning, it's to realize he did not move once after that intervention, and that Charles stayed there even after waking, like he knew his presence needed, his pinning required to help keep John from running in his dreams.

Hey there! May I ask for a drabble? John x Charles + neck 💕 thank you!

I guess I went a little over the 100 word mark but why not 😅

You look tense," John says.

Charles is sitting by the fire, turning his head to both sides. He's been hurting since morning.

"We built a house, a barn, and did work on a ranch. I think I'm entitled to be tense."

"Fair enough," John laughs. "I can help you, though. A girl in Saint Denise did that to me once."

Heat rises in Charles at the words and he's about to decline, but John already sits down behind him, his hands on Charles' shoulders.

He slowly moves them up towards Charles' neck, bringing goosebumps to his skin. Charles freezes, and John grunts behind him. "Relax, I'm trying to help here."

Charles takes a deep breath and exhales longer than needed to calm himself. "I'm just tired."

"Yeah, sorry I had you do so much work around here," John says, his fingers digging into the skin on Charles' neck.

"I didn't mind," Charles says. "I like being here and helping out."

"That's good because I'd be lost without you."

At the words, John runs his hands back to Charles' shoulders with a lot less pressure. It's a sweet caress and John is so close that Charles can feel his warm breath on his skin.

A voice deep inside tells Charles to walk away, but the truth is that he doesn't want to. The fire warmths his body, the sky shines with a myriad of stars, and a light breeze whispers in the dark. It's been a while since Charles felt so content.

"Good?" John asks, his raspy voice right next to Charles' ear. "You want me to keep going?"

"Yes," Charles says, and he can't help that the word comes out with a sigh.

He leans more and more into John's touch. Then there's something hot on his neck, John's lips touching his bare skin for a moment before he leans back.

John's hands come to a rest as if he's unsure what to do next. It's on Charles to decide where this goes. With his heart beating faster, he takes a deep breath before he speaks. "More."

Without hesitation, John leans in again, peppering Charles' neck with soft kisses and careful bites. 

There's a good chance that Charles might relax tonight after all. The pain in his neck is already forgotten.

I have only seen like 4 Arthur/John/Charles fics ever and 1 John/Charles, please let me know if you have anything about them! I'm looking forward to John/Charles only fics but the polyamory ship with Arthur is very welcome too!

Unfortunately, that’s where I start grasping at straws. I’m not sure where more content for them would be, tho I’m sure it’s out there, even in small numbers. Sorry anon... ;n;

Tho, I do have this abo fic I’m working on with John/Charles, tho it’s been a while and I’m not sure when I’ll finish it, but I can give you a wip!
