Ok so I've been rewatching SpongeBob episodes because I've been out of it for a while and I just noticed something.
So in season 6, we're introduced to Triton (and Amphitrite). But mostly him.
And in the first movie, that King Neptune has Mindy.
But then in the newest game Titans of the Tide, there was a screenshot leaked (somehow) that shows her with the series Neptune. And it wasn't just for show, she actually had a minor role (though not speaking) where she was apparently turned into a ghost which further infuriates King Neptune.
At this point, I'll admit, because of this inconsistency, I went down a rabbit hole. Because I wondered if there was anyway that these two versions of King Neptune could possibly be connected. It just bugged me.
And to my surprise, I've learned a couple of things that I previously didn't know.
Due to legal reasons, the movie design of King Neptune or anything related to that version, couldn't be shown in the show until about 15 years later.
Because of that 15 years passing, this meant that some small movie elements could finally be in the show. For example, Mindy actually has a cameo in SpongeBob's Big Birthday Blowout.
So this means that Mindy exists as a character in the show (alongside other movie elements). Which would also imply that the two Neptunes could be one in the same.
But I did some more digging and there's another piece of evidence that heavily points to them being the same.

And I just gotta say, it's really strange ( it seems illegal even) to see the show version of King Neptune next to both Triton and Mindy in the same scene.
So yes, they're the same character. Also one thing I find interesting is that the game has dialogue that mentions Triton's debut episode:
But let's go back to Titans of the Tide. I was watching gameplay (because I don't own a switch 2 I'm poor lol). There's a small image present that's there but can easily be missed:
A family picture of Neptune, Triton and Queen Amphitrite. Sure Mindy isn't there too, but it points out that they're indeed one in the same. (Heck it looks to be the same picture from his debut episode).
And considering that Madame Cassandra is also present it seems that there's continuity from The Cosmic Shake. Since she's imprisoned, but later freed.
Plus, we know that Purple Lamp cares about the continuity as they did put a lot of thought into The Cosmic Shake and Titans of The Tide. And as a result, it seems like the inconsistency is being ironed out slowly.
I just wanted to share this because the inconsistency between the two versions of King Neptune has been annoying me ever since my return to watching SpongeBob.
Obviously the lore and continuity of SpongeBob is as flexible as a contortionist, but it's still kinda fun trying to make sense of a fictional universe.
