going from nurse to doctor had been one of the best decisions marta could have ever made. the hours were long and sometimes strenuous, but she loved her job. she loved it enough to where she didn’t entirely mind being called in on her days off for emergencies especially as it didn’t happen often as a trauma surgeon in the nhs. she was an empath by nature and felt for other people, so usually even the ones that were brought in with injuries from doing something reckless. however... when she heard this one’s story, she had to fight to hold back a chuckle. the poor guy, hugh drysdale was hit by a bus... which was a horrible thing, for sure and not the first time something like that had happened. that wasn’t the part that nearly had her laugh. it was the fact that he’d immediately gotten up and walked on into the pub he’d been heading for, ordered a pint and made it through that pint before he passed out which had prompted the bartender to call for an ambulance. if he wasn’t in a much better shape than most others who were unfortunate to get in the way of one of the big red double decker busses that were on the streets of london, she would have felt worse for laughing when she’d heard that part from the nurse on duty. “doctor, mr. drysdale just woke up.” marta glanced up from the ct scan and xray in front of her and nodded, getting up and collecting the paperwork. “oh good, thank you. i’ll go see him now.” the fact that he was only unconscious for a total of roughly three hours meant that there was unlikely any lasting brain damage at least. she made her way to his room, lightly knocking on the door before letting herself in. “mr. drysdale,” she acknowledged quietly, looking him over, focusing on his face for a moment before turning to her file. “i’m doctor cabrera. i understand you got hit by a bus? more common than one would think. well, i just looked over your xray and ct scan and looks like you’ve got a few broken ribs, moderate concussion as well as the more than occasional scratch and bruise.” she shook her head. “i’m shocked that that’s all you have honestly. you’re very fortunate. we’re going to hold you overnight for observation, if you seem to be recovering well, we’ll let you go home in the morning, i know the nurse gave you some acetaminophen for the pain, which i know probably doesn’t feel like enough, however we can’t give you anything stronger because of that concussion. try and get some rest. do you have any questions for me, is there anything i can do for you right now?”
