Martha & River
It made River truly happy to be completely surrounded by books once again. The last time had been in a Barnes & Noble in the city, but they had nothing on this place. It was really cozy and smelled like old yellowing pages and mahogany bookshelves. He inhaled deeply, letting his eyes drift close for a moment. Where was the owner? He opened his eyes when the thought occurred to him, looking around.
It wasn’t long till he heard a sink running. Maybe someone was making tea? A fiction shelf caught his attention and he found himself wandering closer to a copy of Infinite Jest. David Foster Wallace had always been one of his favorites. River jumped slightly when he heard soft footsteps enter the room. He looked up in time to see a pretty young woman step through the doorway. “Nice place.” He said, as guiltily as if he’d been found with his hand down the cookie jar. A guard had brought him, but he still felt nervous about doing something terribly wrong.
