âOf course,â he answered, noting how nervous the boy seemed. He couldnât blame him, given the current situation. River was a slave, and Adrian, a master. It wasnât a predicament that many people actually wished to be in. and Riverâs nerves were completely understandable. âFollow me,â he instructed, beginning to lead the slave through the corridor and towards the staircase. He knew exactly where the cells were located, simply because he frequented them often.
âYes, sir.â River said quickly, following the master. He seemed to really know his way around. River had a million questions bubbling up in his brain but he quieted them, knowing he shouldnât speak out of turn. Instead, he kept his head down and followed the master obediently.Â

âWeâre slaves âere. Innet anything safe about this.â
âThereâs a roof. Thatâs safer than some places.â

Oh, things had just gotten interesting with those words and now consider the werewolfâs interest peaked. âWhat happened, were you responsible?â He asked, as his palm worked down against the slaves crotch. Despite being in public, being in the way of where people walk he put that slave on display. He had no shame, he had no care if people were to watch. âYou must really be into this, already aching hard.â His fingers traced the outline of the hardness, smirking as he the slave started to grind against his hand. âPlease what, pet?â He tugged on the leash a little more, teeth scraping against the slaves neck.
Riverâs adrenaline rushed; his head pounded; his cock throbbed. âShe died when I was born.â He said quietly. His breathing became more erratic as the master wound him up. The fact that they were outside only flustered River more; heâd never known how much he enjoyed the idea of being so fully on display. He couldnât believe the master was doing this. As if reading his mind, he called him on it a moment later. River loved the hot shame that came with the master knowing how horny this made him. A soft yet high-pitched whine escaped his throat as he traced the outline of his hard-on. He called him pet and tightened his hold on the leash, dragging his teeth against Riverâs neck. River, panting now from the lack of oxygen that only made him ache more and everything else, fervently pressed against the masterâs hand. His cock was pulsing. Please fuck me, but donât break me is what he wished to say. But heâd never been fucked before, only broken, and he didnât know how to say it. The truth was, River already wanted to be his. âPlease make me yours, sir.â He begged, blushing.

Laurence gave a faint smile of amusement at the slaveâs reaction to his teasing comment. âDonât worry, I have no intention of harming youâ he reassured the boy. âBut your scent is certainly an appealing one. Iâm sure that your blood would taste deliciously sweetâ he smirked.
River felt a surge of relief as the older man reassured him. He didnât know if he could trust it, but he had a feeling. When the master spoke again, it dawned on River that he was a vampire. He understood then that if this man wanted to speak to him, then he would speak to him. If he wanted to harm him, he would do that. River turned slightly pink at the compliment, taking it as one despite the bloodsucking implications. âThank you, sir.â He said softly, looking down. Some of the people he had gotten to know while homeless were vampires, but their interactions were minimal. One of them, Zeke, became a good friend of his. But this man seemed old--older than Zeke, who was young by vampire years--and yet, clearly in control.Â

Kade hadnât known many people from rough backgrounds, living a life of upper class privilege prevented it. Heâd never know what it was like for River, or what River felt or how messed up he was but, there was one thing he did know. It was only a matter of time before someone someone bigger and meaner around and and now that he was a slave, he would have even no option of running. Maybe he would have been more empathetic had he been forced here like practically all the other slaves he knew. âI hope for your sanityâs sake youâre right.â Kade stopped suddenly when they reached the threshold of the door leading down into the cells. His body went stiff as he felt the cold air from below them washed over him. âTheyâreâŠdown there.â
âDonât need to worry âbout something you never really had.â Joked River lightly, regarding his sanity. His small smile disappeared when the other slave stopped abruptly at a door. River assumed it was an entrance to the cells, which the other slave confirmed a moment later. He seemed petrified, standing completely still as the cool air drifted over them. âYou donât go down there any more?â River guessed, trying to figure the guy out. He realized theyâd never introduced themselves.

Kade laughed dryly. âSecurity around here isnât protection for slaves, itâs protection against theft. Anyone with enough money has access to you.â The guy seemed like the slave typeâapologetic, docile, timid, almost everything most people down in the cells these days werenât including himself. The guards probably wouldnât have to bother with River like they bothered him. At the mention of Riverâs father, he raised a brow doubtfully. Trying to escape (what he only could assume was abuse from) his father by becoming a slave was the stupidest thing heâd ever heard. âIf your father is the violent type, Iâm sure youâll meet someone around here like him sooner than later.â
The other slaveâs laugh unsettled him and he was made uneasy by the possible implications of the word access. Still, River believed in what heâd done, believed it was the right choice. As the guy raised an eyebrow he could tell he was less than convinced. And he wasnât wrong to be. He understood this place was very dangerous. Riverâs father was violent and River was sure there would be other violent people here. But heâd found violent people everywhere; and no matter what threats could be waiting for him here, it was still safer than finding himself under his fatherâs wrath. âNo.â River said softly. âThereâs no one like my father.â
Finn shrugged a shoulder as his right hand busied itself by playing with the cast on the left. âNot like ya had anythinâ to do with it, River.â He glanced back up, chewing on his lip out of habit. âSomethin like that.â He grumbled, not sure how long it had actually been. âSo.. are ya human or?â

âAll the same.â River wondered who did have something to do with Finnâs broken arm. He seemed pretty upset about it. But River didnât want to risk the other slaveâs safety by asking. He was pretty sure snitches still got stitches outside of America. âIâm a witch.â He said instead. âHow âbout you?â
kade-parker
The slave shivered. Donât thank me. Kade kept from snapping back a replyâmaking the kid flinch or cry wasnât something he wanted to deal with again. âStrange is putting it lightly,â The slave looked back over his shoulder at the other as he walked. âBut itâs your choice,â And a stupid fucking one at that. âAnd I guess you have your reasons.â Kade still couldnât believe he was being so agreeable with River. âI wouldnât mention anything to the rest of the slaves. Most of them are here against their will.â
River felt a pang of guilt when the other slave shivered at his words. He made it a point to try not to thank him again. River could tell the other slave didnât understand why he was doing what he was doing, but he appreciated the effort heâd put in towards trying to. It was more effort than most people had afforded him. âI do.â He said emphatically. âThis place will give me reliable shelter, relative security, and,â He paused at the most important reason. â--Itâll keep me far, far away from my father.â
âHorribly so.â Finn shifted his one arm and it took some effort to even move it away from his body. He really hated the effect Caleb had on him physically. âWell, Iâm Finn.â He smiled genuinely, wondering why the boy hadnât started asking many questions about where he was yet. âWhatâs yer name?â

âNice to meet you, Finn.â River said, smiling back at him. Finn was endearing. âIâm River. Sorry about your arm.â He said, understanding of how long and exhausting it was waiting for a broken bone to heal in your arm. âHas it been around five weeks?â

âNo, you have a youthful freshness about youâ he nodded. âItâs an unmistakable scent⊠the kind that attracts predatorsâŠâ he smirked jokingly.
River could tell the man was probably joking, but couldnât help the surge of panic well up in his chest at the idea of attracting predators. Sure, he was here, basically deciding to be prey, but a predator made him think of his father. Made him think of the blood in the water theory. How, with sharks, once you bled, they could all smell it. He swallowed hard, unsure of how to respond. âCan you really smell that on me, sir?â He asked nervously.
Martha & River
It made River truly happy to be completely surrounded by books once again. The last time had been in a Barnes & Noble in the city, but they had nothing on this place. It was really cozy and smelled like old yellowing pages and mahogany bookshelves. He inhaled deeply, letting his eyes drift close for a moment. Where was the owner? He opened his eyes when the thought occurred to him, looking around.Â
It wasnât long till he heard a sink running. Maybe someone was making tea? A fiction shelf caught his attention and he found himself wandering closer to a copy of Infinite Jest. David Foster Wallace had always been one of his favorites. River jumped slightly when he heard soft footsteps enter the room. He looked up in time to see a pretty young woman step through the doorway. âNice place.â He said, as guiltily as if heâd been found with his hand down the cookie jar. A guard had brought him, but he still felt nervous about doing something terribly wrong.
