Oh yeah I forgot to talk about this but before the Story War playtest in NYC me and Brad played another dude's game? It was called Adoravores and it was like a combination resource management and deck building card game.
Basically there is a central "island" and then little peninsulas equal to the number of players, with each one occupying the space between players. Each player has access to the adjacent peninsulas and the central island and on these are tokens representing animals. Koalas, turtles and wombats were the ones given.
On the peninsulas there are also decks of cards called "monsters". You have a cage in front of you that can hold 3 incomplete monsters at a time and you basically have to strategize picking monster cards and creatures to feed them (different monsters take different combinations of creatures to fully feed) until the round is over (which occurs when all creature tokens are gone or all players pass their turn), after which the creature tokens are replaced and the decks are topped off.
What happens when you have a fully fed monster is that it's added to your deck, and the monsters come in red, yellow and blue which "scare" each other in a rock paper scissors pattern. As you gain more monsters, the battles between these become more complex (higher numbered cards yield more points, you can stack multiple cards of the same colour and you are rewarded for having extra cards after your opponents have played all theirs out) and it's really really cool.
I hope that adequately explained it.
It was REALLY fun!
