#FastRepost from @everychildmatters by @fastrepost_app ••• The shooting that accord at MSDHS on Valentine’s Day took the lives of 17 people; 12 were killed inside the school, 2 died outside, another victim was found dead in the street & 2 succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. Among the victims were 3 educators & 14 students. Freshman Martin Duque, also just 14 years old, was added to the 17 killed in Wednesday’s shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas. Martin was initially reported missing, his older brother, Miguel Duque, told Miami Herald news that Martin did not have a cell phone & his family could not reach him. “Words cannot describe my pain. I love brother Martin you’ll be missed buddy,” Miguel wrote on his Instagram. “I know you’re in a better place. Duques forever man I love you junior!!!” Miguel also created a GoFundMe campaign https://www.gofundme.com/32z7etk to raise money for his brother’s funeral, he had started the go fund me already early on February 15, before knowing that most the funeral expenses would be paid for, but the fund is still needed he explained on the page - to cover additional expenses the family now faces as a result of this tragedy, such as bringing both of his grandmothers from Mexico for the funeral (the women who raised the boys while their parents were living in FL, before saving enough money to bring them over as well), housing their extended family during the funeral, among many other things. “He was a very funny kid, outgoing and sometimes really quiet. He was sweet and caring and loved by all his family,” Miguel wrote about Martin. “Most of all he was my baby brother. My family and I have no words to describe the event that’s has happened on this date, all my prayers to the lost ones.” Martin was originally from a town in the Mexican state of Guerrero. Héctor Astudillo Flores, governor of Guerrero, confirmed in a statement that Martin was from the town of Santa Teresa. Flores offered his condolences to Martin's family, and assistance from the state government if needed.
