Finally collected a tattoo from one of my tattoo hero’s @marty_holcomb ! This tattoo means a lot to me not only for the imagery but by having @marty_holcomb do this tattoo for me! I’ve always looked up to how talented Marty is and still cannot fathom the amount of tattoo flash, paintings and tattoos that he has done throughout his career! @marty_holcomb and I have somewhat of a personal connection with our tattooing careers starting over 30 years ago. Within Columbus, Ohio tattoo lineage, Marty was apprenticed under the late and great Stoney St. Clair. Marty apprenticed under Stoney St. Clair before opening his own studio “Artistic Tattooing by Marty” back in 1972 which was when I was actually born. Later on, Marty went on to apprentice a gentleman named Tim Miller who later opened up a studio on the east side of Columbus, which is where I eventually apprenticed and started professionally tattooing right out of high school way back in 1991. As a child, I remember seeing Marty‘s tattoos on a few different people that were just incredible and artistic and I cannot even fathom how they were done so well, even back then Marty was doing some incredible tattooing! The tattoo lineage between Marty and I has come full circle today as Marty now works at @redtreetattoo and we all could not be more proud and happy to have him as a part of the “Tattoo Family” at RedTree Tattoo Gallery downtown Columbus Ohio! Considered a powerhouse addition to RedTree, Marty Holcomb has done over 5000 sheets of flash throughout his career, has published books called “Silent Symphony” with his paintings and fine art and continues to produce amazing artistic tattoos to this day! In Tattoo history, Marty is definitely considered a pioneer with his painterly, brushed style of tattoos that were always ahead of their time in tattooing and have withstood the test of time!
