The Real Kids (Red Star Records cat RS2) yet another 20 year want list record and easily one of the greatest Powerpop LPs ever recorded. Every copy I have come across has been beat. This one is stone mint. So if you are ever on a non-stop, two day, one night work trip take 30 minutes before eating dinner and hit a local record shop. Marty Thau

Marty Thau has died . He was the original manager for The New York Dolls and The Ramones . I love the Ramones, but The New York Dolls were the coolest. I often wish I was cool enough to hang out with cool bands like Marty did and he brought DIY to the forefront before there was such a thing. I do not have a link, but his obituary is in The New York Times and if you have a second, think about what he helped start.

I do not believe in God , but if there was a heaven I'll bet Marty would be getting JT, Jerry Nolan, Dee Dee, Joey and Robert Quine together for an EPIC gig-and I would pay the $5 to see the show.
