He gets killed by Godzilla as a test for his masters, a race of war-weary aliens before they plead with Godzilla telepathically that he is Earth’s only hope.
Well of course he is... after you had Godzilla pointlessly fight your monster instead of teaming them up!
There was a xenophobic love of seeing “ugly monsters” killed gruesomely that was an unnappealing topping on an otherwise great run.
